The Building Engineer I will perform specific duties working under limited supervision to ensure the building and/or portfolio of buildings are properly maintained and operating. They will be responsible for engineering operations as directed by the chief engineer as well as assisting tenants. Entry-level trade skills to include plumbing electrical and HVAC.
Duties:
- Interacts with tenants to schedule repairs such as light bulbs and ballast replacement or HVAC for their suite.
- Monitors building systems including fire alarms HVAC and plumbing to ensure that the operation of equipment is within design.
- Responds quickly to emergency situations summoning additional assistance as needed.
- Performs preventative maintenance as assigned and monitors water chillers cooling towers pumps heat exchanges air handling equipment fans automatic temperature controls sprinkler systems fire alarm systems valves plumbing fixtures and other mechanical and electronic equipment and systems in the building.
- Helps to remove snow and ice from the outside of the building.
- The position is considered essential personnel and is required to respond to after-hours emergencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time climb stoop kneel crouch and crawl. The employee much be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus to differentiate items such as chill water lines condenser water lines and the fire system.
Qualifications :
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Current OSHA 10 card or significant OSHA training.
- Trade skills to include water treatment plumbing electric heating and cooling.
- 0 2 years relevant experience in modern office building. Strong hands on troubleshooting skills in HVAC electrical and plumbing.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $24.04 - $26.44 per hour benefits annual bonus (based on performance and company profitability).
