Description
Assists in supporting youth interns ages 14 18 in partnership with our Out-of-School Time (OST) Programs a program of East Side Neighborhood Services. This role is vital in promoting professional success through the facilitation of job skills training and workplace coaching. They are responsible for engaging youth through creative instructional methods building meaningful relationships and promoting various academic social and emotional program outcomes.
This part-time non-exempt position is 20 hours per week Monday Thursday. Hours are based on program needs. This position supports youth interns in a 6-weeks summer program between the hours of 10:00am 3:00pm.The 2025 program session runs June 23 - July 31. Staff in-person training to be held on June.
Responsibilities
Teaching Functions
- Assist department leadership with in-person training and orientation for youth interns.
- Provide individual coaching and support to interns throughout the program session.
- Facilitate professional development opportunities for youth interns including training courses and resume building.
- Design online training courses that include introductory workplace concepts and best practices.
- Mediate professional exchanges between an intern and their supervisor when necessary.
Administrative Functions
- Responsible for drafting and administering a pre-survey and post survey to youth interns to gauge their satisfaction levels related to their experience.
- Work closely with the Program Manager to identify and produce professional resources for interns to utilize throughout the program session.
- Establish development objectives and outcomes for intern performance and debrief results with OST teams.
- Attend weekly check-ins with Director of Youth Services to review progress and updates on internships.
- Attend staff department meetings training and any outlined improvement initiatives.
Additional Functions
- Help oversee cleaning and organizing by interns during the wrap-up week following the end of the session.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Two years of post-secondary education is required.
- Degree in Child Development Human Services Education or related field.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Bilingual in either Spanish Oromo and/or Somali preferred.
- Experience working with diverse urban youth and community populations.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring youth and young adults on workplace readiness.
- Experience facilitating to and managing youth and young adult cohorts of 10 or more participants.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid MN Drivers License and proof of auto insurance. Dependable transportation is required.
- CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.
- MN Teaching Licensure preferred.
Must have ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and utilize various office equipment (e.g. computer printer phone and calculator) on a continual basis.
