Description

The Service & Team:

The Disabled Children & Therapy Service (DC&TS) is a specialist multidisciplinary team dedicated to supporting disabled children young people and their families. We work with those whose primary needs stem from a physical or mental impairment that is both substantial and longterm significantly affecting their ability to carry out everyday activities.

Our service steps in when a childs needs go beyond what Early Support services can provide. DC&TS brings together a range of statutory and therapeutic services including:

  • Children in Need Child Protection and Children in Care social work
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Disabled Children Family Workers
  • Portage (early intervention support)
  • Personal Budgets and Direct Payments
  • Residential Childrens Homes
  • Short Breaks and FamilyBased Short Breaks

The Role:

The postholder will lead the management and ongoing development of Early Support and Family Help services with a particular focus on Portage and Supporting Change In Partnership (SCIP).

They will oversee the allocation of work provide supervision and support to staff and ensure robust quality assurance and performance management processes are in place. This is all aimed at achieving the best possible outcomes for disabled children young people and their families across Cornwall. The role also includes responsibility for ensuring services are delivered effectively within budget.

As a key member of the DC&TS Management Group the successful candidate will also contribute to the strategic development of the wider service.

This is a public/customerfacing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern:

This is a full time permanent post working Monday to Friday.

What youll need to succeed:

  • Experience of managing a large team of employees who work in the community.

  • Experience of creative / innovative development work particularly working in coproduction with disabled children young people and their families.

  • Knowledge of the needs of disabled children young people & their families.

  • Ability to deliver a service within budget.
