Job Description
Job Summary:The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Medicine (COM) seeks a visionary distinguished clinicianscientist to serve as its next Director of the Addiction Sciences Division within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The incoming Director will have the opportunity to lead one of the most storied and accomplished addictions programs in the country and set the course for substantial growth as part of an expanding academic research and health system with outstanding facilities in one of the most desirable places to live in the U.S.
The Divisions faculty members include national and international leaders in their respective disciplines. The Division houses more than 35 faculty members and more than 100 staff with an array of trainees across disciplines. The Division has a robust research program with a current portfolio of over $25 million per year in National Institutes of Health awards. Additionally the Division houses the Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs (CDAP) a comprehensive outpatient clinical program addressing substance use and cooccurring mental health disorders.
Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences the Division Director will have the resources and support to set a bold vision for the growth of addictionsfocused clinical education and research programs of excellence.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in all leadership domains including education research and clinical enterprise. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in faculty recruitment mentorship and developing innovative clinical and research programs. Resources will be available for the new Division Director to build on existing strengths and achieve national prominence for the Division.
