The Team Youll Work With
The NYC Mayors Office administers all city services public property and most public agencies and
enforces all city state and federal laws within New York City. New York Citys Mayor Eric Adams is

MOCEJ is committed to improving environmental quality for all prioritizing frontline communities

all. Through sciencebased analysis policy and program development and capacity building MOCEJ
leads the Citys efforts to ensure that New York City is minimizing its contributions to climate change
preparing to adapt and protect New Yorkers from extreme weather and multiple climate hazards and
giving every New Yorker a meaningful voice in our citys future.
The Problems Youll Solve
The Mayors Office of Climate and Environmental Justice (MOCEJ) is seeking a highly skilled and
motivated individual to join our team as a Director and Climate Solutions Financing Strategist. In this
role you will provide executivelevel leadership in driving forward the citys efforts to address climate
change and promote environmental justice. Specifically you will spearhead the development and
implementation of comprehensive strategies to invest in decarbonization and resiliency solutions for
New York City utilizing federal state and private funding opportunities. Your expertise in financing
strategies will be essential in unlocking funding and financing options to improve the resiliency of city
buildings and infrastructure and achieve citywide goals of decarbonizing buildings including options
that support building owners with efforts to comply with Local Law 97.
This position is subject to grant funding through 7/30/2027.
Responsibilities:
Spearhead the development of comprehensive executivelevel strategies to identify and access
funding opportunities for decarbonization and resiliency projects in New York City buildings
with a focus on promoting environmental justice and equitable distribution of resources.
Lead highlevel negotiations with federal and state funding entities to secure and maximize
resources for NYCs climate initiatives.
Identify gaps and barriers in existing funding and financing products for building owners that
support emissions reduction for compliance with Local Law 97 explore opportunities for new
products that fill these gaps and direct their development.
Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with city agencies community organizations and
stakeholders to align decarbonization and resiliency initiatives with available funding programs
particularly federal funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act
as well as state funding from the Environmental Bond Act.
Represent MOCEJ in executivelevel discussions with external organizations including financial
institutions philanthropic entities and communitybased organizations to cultivate innovative
financing approaches and collaborations that prioritize environmental justice and compliance
with Local Law 97.
Direct indepth research and analysis of funding programs policy frameworks and financial
mechanisms relevant to climate solutions and decarbonization with a lens of environmental
justice.
Evaluate the feasibility and viability of potential funding sources and financing models
considering economic environmental and social impacts on marginalized communities.
Provide executivelevel guidance and strategic recommendations to the Mayors Office city
officials and stakeholders on funding opportunities and strategies to maximize investments in
decarbonization and resiliency initiatives while addressing environmental justice concerns.
Lead MOCEJs strategic response to the latest developments in federal and state funding
policies and programs related to climate solutions environmental justice and community
resilience.
Develop and present comprehensive reports briefings and recommendations to senior
leadership city agencies community groups and other stakeholders to advocate for funding
allocations and support for decarbonization projects in underserved communities.
About You
You have a Masters degree in public administration Public Policy Nonprofit Management
Environmental Science Sustainability or a related field.
You have a minimum of 5 years experience with a bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g.
business administration public administration environmental science or a related discipline).
An advanced degree is a plus.
You have proven executivelevel experience and expertise in climate finance green
investments or sustainable finance with a focus on securing funding for decarbonization
projects while addressing environmental justice concerns.
You have an extensive understanding of federal and state funding programs and policies
particularly those related to climate change infrastructure environmental justice and
community resilience.
You have demonstrated the ability to develop and execute comprehensive executivelevel
strategies to access and leverage funding opportunities while promoting equitable outcomes.
You have advanced knowledge of financial mechanisms including publicprivate partnerships
green bonds grants and other innovative financing models with a focus on ensuring equitable
access to resources.
You have superior analytical skills with the ability to assess financial viability risks and benefits
of different funding sources and projects considering environmental justice impacts.
You have exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex
concepts and recommendations to diverse audiences including institutional investors
government officials and underserved communities.
You have strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to build effective
relationships with highlevel internal and external stakeholders particularly with financial
institutions and communitybased organizations.
You have a strategic and resultsoriented mindset with the ability to work independently and
manage complex multistakeholder initiatives in a fastpaced environment.
You have a passion for sustainability climate solutions environmental justice and a
commitment to advancing equity in climate action.
