Job Description

Primary Purpose

Develops and facilitates STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math) and Career Pathways programming and engagement at all levels impacted by the college community. Serves as resource providing information and assistance to students staff and the public. Perform various administrative support tasks for STEAM and career pathways programs for both Coos and Curry campuses.

This position is open until 11:59 pm on May 23rd 2025.
This position is currently only open to internal applicants (currently employed Classified employees).
Internal candidates are interviewed and considered prior to any external candidates in accordance with the current Classified Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Description of Essential Functions

Administrative Program Support (approx. 40% of Time)

  1. Provide administrative support for the STEAM and career pathways programs on both Coos and Curry campuses. Create professional quality correspondence reports forms flyers memoranda and other materials. Promote interdisciplinary communications and collaborations between faculty for outreach and other academic endeavors.
  2. Responsible for creating revising and maintaining both manual and computer record keeping systems (including spreadsheets database and specialized reports).
  3. Assist in the planning and coordination of activities for both participants faculty and staff including processing financial forms travel arrangements conference registration and production of promotional materials.
  4. Prepare and process requisitions and check requests for program expenditures.
  5. In collaboration with the Director prepare federal institutional and other statistical reports. Assist in the preparation of grant documents to ensure continued funding.
  6. Act as liaison between the STEAM programs college personnel and appropriate vendors for event coordination.
  7. Connect faculty to grant opportunities when available to facilitate student projects.
  8. Assist with departmental recruiting and establish contact with current former and incoming students for STEAM programs.
  9. Assist the Deans of Instruction to ensure Perkins grant regulations are met. Assist in coordination of faculty professional learning communities.
STEAM Student Support (approx. 30% of Time)
  1. Mentor student researchers through the SPEAR group.
  2. Connect students to STEAM scholarship/internship/research opportunities.
  3. Connect students to resources both internal and external to better facilitate student success.
  4. Collaborate with our Oregon Space Grant and Oregon Sea Grant partners to facilitate student engagement and participation as well as lower barriers to entry for related programs.
  5. Facilitate student opportunities to conduct outreach present project results and share academic experiences throughout the college and broader community.
STEAM and CTE Outreach Development and Planning (approx. 5% of Time)
  1. Work with partner organizations faculty students and community members to facilitate planning and execution of STEAM and CTE outreach events.
  2. Collaborate with faculty students and staff on themes and activities for STEAM and CTE events.
  3. Facilitate media and promotion for STEAM and CTE events.
  4. Oversee registration and documentation of participants in STEAM and CTE events where applicable.
  5. Complete all necessary reporting to required parties.
  6. Provide support for high school outreach activities including College 101 and Skills Day.
Arts and humanities program support(approx. 15% of Time)
  1. Collaborate with the Office of Instruction as well as local and regional agencies to bring art opportunities to campus.
  2. Collaborate with the Office of Instruction to determine usage of Eden Gallery space and other potential spaces for art on campus.
  3. Serve as a liaison between faculty and administration to develop and refine the college lecture series across multiple disciplines.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associates Degree or equivalent.

Three (3) years of experience in a clerical support position.

  • Ability to consistently convey a pleasant and helpful attitude by using excellent interpersonal and communication skills to control sometimes stressful and emotional situations. Requires sufficient communication and human relations skills to resolve complaints/issues defuse anger and convey messages.
  • Exhibit a high level of technology literacy including knowledge of retail systems and computer software and hardware. Ability to use internet searching Microsoft Outlook Word and Excel as needed. Able to learn and function in the Colleges information management system and learn new software as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively and sensitively with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives and abilities. Ability to model and ensure diversity and cultural competency (respect inclusiveness reflecting valuing and welcoming cultural differences) in all position responsibilities regardless of race ethnicity religion gender social class sexual orientation ability nationality age language origin or employment status.
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping/accounting procedures and computer applications of these procedures.
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to create innovative solutions to space management requirements.

  • Ability to work varied hours including some evenings and weekends.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree.

Experience in an educational setting.
