Work Schedule: Day Shift Monday-Friday 20 hours per week

The Health Pathways Program Coach plays a vital role in supporting high school students from the Omaha Benson Health Professions Academy as they pursue healthcare careers through certificate LPN or associate degree programs. This is a newly created position that will design implement and coordinate a career development program for student needs. This will include but not be limited to one-on-one advising career exploration and academic/career planning. They will manage the scholarship processes for students applying to Nebraska Methodist College (NMC) support their academic and career transitions and serve as a key liaison between NMC and Nebraska Methodist Health System (NMHS).

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

1. Provide NMC Pathways Scholars academic and career advising support connecting students to college resources and Methodist career opportunities.

2. Coordinate job shadowing internship and employment connections within the Methodist Health System and Nebraska Methodist College for Omaha Benson Health Professions Academy students.

3. Oversee the scholarship application selection and awarding process.

4. Monitor student academic and career progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

5. Collaborate with internal partners including the Omaha Benson Health Professions Academy and Methodist Health System leaders.

6. Track and communicate programming and metrics to NMC and MHS stakeholders.

7. Provide academic advising support to students upon matriculation into NMC

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in a health profession education counseling or related field.
  • Masters degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience working with students in an educational advising coaching or precepting capacity is preferred but not required.

License/Certification:

  • N/A

Skills/Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships inside and outside the organization.
  • Understanding of health professions pathways and barriers facing first-generation or under-resourced students.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
