Job Description

Background

Volleyball Australia (VA) is the peak body for the administration of the sport of Volleyball in Australia. VAs Mission is to lead partner and support the growth in participation

performance and profile of the sport in Australia. VA is the organisational body responsible for the delivery of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships Adelaide 2025 (Adelaide BVWC).

VA work closely with key stakeholders for the event including the FIVB & Volleyball World. The FIVB is the global sports body governing volleyball as one of the most widely

played sports in the world and it represents 222 affiliated national federations worldwide. Volleyball World is responsible for the hosting and delivery of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in conjunction with the local organiser with the competition and rules of the game governed by the FIVB.

The Beach Volleyball World Championships will be held in Adelaide Australia from 14 to 23 November 2025. This prestigious global event will attract 192 of the worlds elite beach volleyball players competing at the highest level in the heart of Adelaide. As one of the most significant events in international beach volleyball the championships will deliver intense competition and a vibrant atmosphere bringing the excitement of beach sports to a dynamic urban setting. The event is poised to engage both dedicated fans of the sport and a broader audience making it a landmark event in Australias sporting calendar.

Position Overview

The Marketing Communications & Community Engagement Specialist will play a vital support role in delivering the marketing communications and community outreach objectives for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships (BVWC) in Adelaide. This role is ideal for a passionate and experienced marketing professional who thrives in highenergy sporting environments and can engage a wide range of stakeholders and communities.

Working closely with the Head of Marketing Communications & Community Engagement (HOM) the Specialist will contribute to developing and executing campaigns that drive ticket sales boost public visibility and deepen engagement across South Australias diverse communities and the national volleyball network.

Job Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

Assist in the execution of integrated marketing and communications plans aligned with strategic event objectives.

Support the rollout of digital campaigns ensuring alignment with Volleyball World and Volleyball Australia branding guidelines.

Coordinate delivery of marketing materials across social media web email and traditional media channels.

Support the management of the Ambassador Program

Fan & Stakeholder Engagement

Help implement strategies to build excitement and engage fans at the state national and international level.

Assist with ambassador campaigns and support coordination with state/territory volleyball associations to amplify messaging.

Community Outreach

Engage multicultural groups schools and universities through targeted programs and partnerships.

Assist in organising activations and outreach events to build local community involvement and enthusiasm.

Media & Public Relations

Draft press releases and media content; manage media lists; assist in media outreach and interview coordination.

Work closely with the HOM to ensure accurate and timely media coverage ahead of and during the event.

Content & Design

Develop digital and print content for promotional use including social media posts newsletters flyers and web content.

Create and adapt visual assets and marketing collateral in line with brand guidelines.

Manage website content and updates ongoing

Event Promotion & Support

Support promotional events and activations leading up to the Championships.

Ensure seamless delivery and coordination of promotional materials with relevant stakeholders and delivery partners.

Reporting & Administration

Assist with tracking marketing performance metrics and help prepare regular reporting on campaign effectiveness.

Support budget tracking and administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

35 years of experience in marketing communications or community engagement ideally within major sports events or sporting teams.

Experience working with media and public relations.

Demonstrated ability to create and manage content across a variety of digital platforms.

Experience in Email Marketing.

Strong stakeholder engagement and relationshipbuilding skills.

Highlevel written and verbal communication skills.

Current Working with Children Check.

Desirable:

Experience working in Adelaide or with South Australian communities.

Degree in Marketing Communications PR or a related field.

Experience working with digital content management tools such as Wordpress/Elementor Brevo Canva Adobe Creative Suite etc.

Knowledge and Skills

Proficiency in digital and social media marketing.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.

Highly organised with strong attention to detail.

Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to support across functions.

Understanding of culturally appropriate engagement strategies and inclusive communication practices.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required during key event periods.

Work Conditions

Applicants must hold an existing Australian working visa or be an Australian citizen/permanent resident to be considered.

Flexible work hours and conditions can be negotiated. The Championship delivery phase will require extensive after hours and weekend work particularly throughout October and November 2025.
