Are you interested in learning how we apply economics to regulate the UK communications sectors
As the UKs communications regulator were at the forefront of innovation working on projects that shape the future of how we stay connected. From phones and broadband to TV radio and even the postal service were responsible for keeping the UK connected. But thats just the beginning. Were also tackling one of the biggest challenges of our time making the online world a safer and more trusted place.
Youll be part of one of the UKs largest and most dynamic teams of competition and regulatory economists data analysts and finance professionals. Together we work on some of the most exciting sectors in the UK whether its the BBC TV broadband mobile online services or the wireless airwaves powering the latest tech devices.
During the work experience you will conduct desk research and create a presentation on a topic related to Ofcoms work. At the end of the week you will have the chance to present your findings to members of the Ofcoms Economics and Analytics group.
You will also have the opportunity to attend various catch ups and training sessions hosted by the Economics and Analytics group allowing you to expand your knowledge and connect with colleagues at every level from recent grads and interns to directors.
How the scheme works
Successful applicants will be aligned to one of our London Manchester or Edinburgh offices for the following week:
London: (14th 18th July)
Manchester: (14th 18th July)
Edinburgh: (30th June 4th July)
We ask that candidates identify their office preference. We ask that students attend the office in person during the week.
Work experience students will be refunded food/travel expenses of up to 10 per day.
Necessary requirements
This work experience is for students who are currently in year 12 (England and Wales) S5 (Scotland) or Year 13 (Northern Ireland).
No prior knowledge skills or experience is needed for this work experience. However we do ask that the candidate has a real interest in economics and is potentially looking to study economics in the future.

To be considered for the work experience you will need complete your application by 23.59 on Thursday 29 May 2025. This is the only part of the application process students will be selected based on their responses to these questions. We will not be conducting interviews.
