Job Description

Are you passionate about workplace safety compliance and process optimisation We are seeking an experienced consultant to oversee and develop robust Permit to Work (PTW) processes for our this role you will support organisations in ensuring adherence to legal requirements improving operational safety and fostering a strong culture of risk management. If you are a solutions-oriented professional looking to be part of a driven and supportive team this opportunity could be the perfect fit.

Key Responsibilities Permit to Work Process Development and Support

  • Assess design and implement Permit to Work systems tailored to client needs.
  • Develop documentation workflows and procedures to support safe work practices in high-risk operations.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for staff on PTW policies and safe systems of work.
  • Regularly review and audit existing permit systems to drive continuous improvement and compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Collaborate with site managers safety representatives contractors and other stakeholders to embed best practices across projects and operations.
  • Advise on digital PTW solutions and support change management during transitions to new systems.
  • Stay up to date with UK/EU HSE regulations and incorporate new requirements into client PTW procedures.

Desired Skills and Experience in Permit to Work Consulting

  • Professional experience in health and safety risk management or process safety ideally in construction manufacturing energy or related sectors.
  • Thorough understanding of UK permit to work legislation HSE guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills with an analytical approach to solving complex safety challenges.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills able to deliver clear training and guidance to diverse teams.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of cross-functional groups.
  • Familiarity with digital PTW platforms considered beneficial.

Qualifications Health and Safety Consultant Profile

  • Bachelors degree in engineering health and safety risk management or a related technical discipline.
  • Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH IOSH or equivalent are advantageous.
  • Previous experience leading or supporting the rollout of permit to work or similar safety control systems.
