Job Description

Pay Grade: Teacher Salary Schedule

Accountable To: Principal

FLSA Status: Exempt

Creation/Revision Date: July 1 2017

Summary: Under general direction incumbent(s) oversees the implementation of the school discipline truancy and tardiness programs. In addition incumbent(s) determines appropriate level of disciplinary action for students investigates referrals documents and maintains proper paperwork and facilitates processes to provide interventions for teachers and parents.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees the implementation of the schoolwide discipline truancy and tardiness programs by working adminstration and the School Discipline Committee school staff and the District office. Trains and updates school staff parents and students on discipline truancy and tardiness procedures.
  • Determines appropriate level of disciplinary action for students identified as improperly behaving. Investigates discipline referrals. Completes required paperwork. Implements disciplinary action according to District and school policies and procedures. Communicates with staff parents and students regrading discipline truancy and tardiness
  • Develops and delivers schoolwide programs that promote positive selfesteem decisionmaking skills conflict resolution and peer mediation.
  • Facilitates processes to provide interventions for teachers and parents prior to Team Approach Process (TAP) referrals including monitoring functional behavioral assessments and student behavior intervention plans. Attends and assists school personnel in facilitating TAP meetings.
  • Assists the Principal in conducting threat assessments using District guidelines.
  • Reports student conduct to applicable law enforcement agencies. Collaborates with resource officers and local law enforcement agencies regarding prevention plans.
  • Reports suspected child abuse/neglect to Child Protectiive Services and other applicable law enforcement agencies.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

  • Bachelors Degree in Education;
  • Valid Arizona Department of Education Teacher Certificategrade designations apply;
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

  • Four years of teaching experience;
  • Experience in a public education system;
  • Two years of student services intervention or related experience.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

To perform the job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Skills required but not limited to for this position include:

  • Demonstrating instructional skills;
  • Applying facilitation skills;
  • Applying school discipline procedures and intervention procedures;
  • Knowing special education laws and regulations;
  • Utilizing WESD Board policies including truancy discipline tardiness etc.
  • Engaging and encouraging communication skills while interacting with supervisors staff students etc. to exchange information.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
