Job Description

The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for direct manufacturing activities to produce the companys products. The role requires following all production and quality process as outlined in the documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). This position will take the initiative to improve process and equipment efficiency after gaining alignment and concurrence with process engineering on changes that are to be introduced into the SOPs. The position must be able to adapt to different situations and to identify any issues with production quality related to executing the SOPs for any production operation bringing it to the attention of the lead tech or manager. This position will contribute to resolving unusual nonstandard problems working with other production positions quality management or engineering resources. In support of routine production performs entry level production functions including filling utility operations packing assembling labeling and inspection under general supervision.  The position has the opportunity to advance into other operations roles described in the job roles for Manufacturing technician 2 or 3.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Production line support in accordance with GMP requirements.
  • Understand identify and segregate product defects from conforming product.
  • Execute production activities that align to production schedules issued for manufacturing operations.
  • Identify new opportunities for process and equipment optimization on current product lines develop and implement approved optimization solutions.
  • Contribute to investigations and assist on projects to improve key metrics of cycle time material flow and production yield.
  • Assists engineers and other production employees in the troubleshooting of production line issues and product nonconformances.
  • Perform activities related to qualifications and validations of processes and equipment documenting test outcomes.
  • Perform outlined Lean / Six Sigma concepts to drive waste elimination.
  • Perform other standard Operations/QA related activities as needed and assigned.
  • Enter production data into SAP and record on paper batch records.
  • Support warehouse activities and supply chain tasks required to maintain compliant and effective materials management processes.

Qualifications :

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma minimum 1 year of production related experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry required
  • Associate/Technical trade degree in a related area is preferred
  • Certifications and/or training in the Quality System Regulations International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Six Sigma Lean methodologies or other continuous improvement tools/practices are a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of equipment and process validation requirements
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail skills required

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Officebased environment.
  • Cleanroom and laboratory environment (with specific gowning and hygiene requirements).
  • Will work with potentially hazardous substances.
  • Steel toed shoes required while working in the warehouse.  Willful disregard of this requirement can result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Compensation & Benefits:

The hourly rate for this position is $25/hr $30/hr.  Final hourly rate will be determined based on several factors including market analysis experience and internal equity.
