Job Summary
This position is open to students with or without Federal Work Study eligibility for the Summer semester. Additional openings anticipated for Autumn 2025.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Represents the college at the front desk area with a positive friendly andhelpful attitude.
Provides frontline customer service (facetoface or on the phone) toguests of the president and other executive leaders. Guests may include members of the community students faculty/staff and others. Work with the chief of staff and executive assistants to direct guests to the appropriate person or office.
Assists callers and visitors with contact information for offices/resourceswhen appropriate.
Maintains the reception and conference spaces ensuring the spaces are stocked and organized.
Assists with general offices duties and clerical/administrativework including but not limited to: filing making copies constructing informational packets delivering messages and handling mail.
Assists with various documents using the MicrosoftOffice suite.
Supports departmentrelated projects and programs as needed.
Maintain privacy and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information.
Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty staff students and members of the community.
Work a consistent reliable schedule and exhibits regular and punctual attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum/General Qualifications:
This position requires that any applicant be enrolled as a current student at Columbus State in three or more credit hours in a degree or certificate seeking program. Visit for a full explanation of eligibility requirements for student employment at Columbus State.
OR
This position requires applicants to have Federal Work Study as part of their current Financial Aid package with Columbus State. You must also be enrolled in SIX or more credit hours in a degree or certificate program. Visit for a full explanation of eligibility requirements or visit Nestor Hall 113 to request Federal Work Study if you were not awarded it already. Any applicants without Federal Work Study eligibility will not be considered for this position.
Applicants must have received a high school diploma or a certificate of attendance from an accredited secondary school or a certificate of high school equivalence and be exempt from Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4109.
Must have reliable transportation or other means to get to work regularly.
Students enrolled as Transient College Credit Plus Undecided or otherwise nondegreeseeking are not considered eligible for Student Employment.
Schedule:
TBD by the needs of department and student schedule between office hours of Monday Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Maximum 20 hours per week.
Work will be performed: Onsite only.
Work schedules will be discussed as part of the hiring process but will be during regular business hours. The college intends to hire several students for this role so that the reception area has consistent coverage.

The Student Office Assistant will have the opportunity to engage with college and community leaders on a regular basis so the individual(s) selected for this role must be responsible reliable friendly and ready to work collaboratively with executive assistants to provide seamless service.

The program consists of paid competencybased career and leadership development activities designed by Career Services. All Tier/Level III positions are automatically enrolled in this program.
