Community Engagement Specialist-Direct Support Specialist

RT Industries in Troy OH is looking to hire a fulltime Community Engagement Specialist to provide adult day support (ADS) for our clients. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

As a Community Engagement Specialist you provide direct care to people with developmental disabilities in order to help them attain and maintain their maximum potential. You plan and implement activities to enhance the skills and quality of life of the people you serve. Working with a team you provide direct support to help them effectively participate in daytoday activities. This often looks like transporting people to and from communityinclusive activities and providing necessary personal care. You are always careful to model appropriate social skills and behaviors. With patience and understanding you are quick to respond to challenging situations when they occur.

As an advocate you provide direct care to those we serve while always supporting considerations as outlined in each persons individual service plan (ISP). You assist with assessments and work closely with leadership to ensure appropriate services and supports are being provided. Leveraging your strong organizational skills you accurately document all services rendered. Safety is a top priority for you. Therefore you carefully maintain all needed supplies and notify your immediate supervisor of any inoperative equipment or needed materials. Helping those with disabilities and making a difference in their lives is what you love to do and this is why you are perfect for this direct support position!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 21 years of age
• Ability to become certified in CPR and first aid
• Current drivers license a good driving record and the ability to safely operate a 14person vehicle
• Physical ability to lift carry and move people in a safe manner

WORK SCHEDULE

This fulltime human services position typically works Monday Friday from typically 8 hours first shift.
