Job Description
Come join a creative team of Operations Technology Engineers that builds the wired and wireless networks that power Amazon fulfillment centers and transportation sites worldwide. These networks are used by hundreds of thousands of associates relied upon by operators of industryleading fulfillment and transportation systems and play a critical role in the delivery of shipments to Amazon retail customers.
We are looking for Network Development Engineers to provide technical thought leadership in the design of our nextgeneration networks. As we look to the future our networks will support an ecosystem of robotics industrial IoT sensors drones and mobile devices. You are comfortable with making data motivated decisions and iterating on designs that may fail at the outset to ultimately deliver robust systems that elegantly scale. Information security and network reliability are at the core of your thought processes.
Flexible working

The team operates a followthesun oncall rotation with a frequency of one week on call in every five weeks. The rotation is daytime only during working hours Monday to Sunday with handoffs between the India Dublin and North America (NA) teams. The oncall engineer represents the Network Reliability team during event with customer impact in production and coordinates efforts to quickly mitigate customer impact across these regions.

Key job responsibilities
Identifying developing and delivering technical solutions that improve the availability of our wireless network technologies.
Partner with peer teams to collectively understand the customer problems and find technological solutions utilizing wired networking technologies.
Define and meter the availability of our existing and future network solutions ensuring they meet or exceed the needs of our customers.
Identify and deliver solutions that reduce operational impact to customers and enable them with scalable resilient and cost optimized services.
Dive Deep on complex problems that identify root causes of our customer impacts developing and delivering corrective actions.
Evaluating new technologies lab testing proof of concept (PoC) run books definition and pilot deployment.
Innovate and automate infrastructure testing deployment operations and life cycle management
Defining the strategy for future team processes tools and which improve how we maintain and manage them effectively efficiently and safely.
Be a part of Global organization that provides 24x7 escalation service on shift rotation basis. Some night and weekend coverage may be required.
Effectively contribute to hiring and developing top talent at Amazon
Develop automation to resolve wireless network failures
Investigate challenging problems to identify root cause and make recommendations for improving the customers experience on Wifi.
Create and update the wireless network design to improve reliability
Mitigate and Solve Network Availability Risks
Partner with peer networking teams on overall network design to provide feedback and improvements from the wireless network perspective.
Participate in an on call rotation
Implement metrics to measure wireless availability and identify performance risks
A day in the life
In this role you will operate the largest fulfillment network in the world and provide guidance to and mentoring to network support teams to develop their skills and reinforce best practices. Network reliability is critical to Amazon Operations and your responsibilities will include driving root cause resolution of network events most impactfull to the business.

Our Core Networking team has a broad scope supporting multiple business globally from the smallest delivery stations in emerging markets to the most advanced automated fulfillment centers in North America Japan and Europe. As a result this group enjoys a variety of both tactical and strategic projects. 1 years of automation scripting using Python Bash Shell and/or Perl experience
5 years practical relevant experience Wifi or other managed RF networks operations and engineering
Deep understanding of IP network fundamentals and packet capture analysis Analytical skills
4 years of automation scripting using Python Bash Shell and/or Perl experience
Experience designing highdensity AP and client deployments Expert knowledge of IP networking technologies and concepts including routing and switching
Expert in managing large scale wireless deployments with high availability requirements

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
