The Okanagan Similkameen School District invites applicants for the position of:
School Principal Southern Okanagan Secondary School
Located in Oliver British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Sukenaqin people Southern Okanagan Secondary School (SOSS) is situated in one of the provinces warmest climates and is renowned for its spectacular vineyards thriving fruit orchards and breathtaking landscapes.
SOSS is a dynamic Grade 812 school with approximately 500 students and 70
staff members housed in a stateoftheart facility. The school offers a diverse
range of programs including Advanced Placement courses a robust fine arts program an experiential landbased learning program work experience and
work/train in trades opportunities alongside a comprehensive selection of secondary courses.

We are seeking an experienced and visionary educational leader to guide the school team and contribute to our districts strong leadership group. The successful candidate will bring a passion for student success a collaborative approach to leadership and a commitment to excellence in education.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a vibrant school community in a supportive and forwardthinking district. Qualifications and Preferred Skill Set:
- Required Credentials: Masters degree in educational leadership curriculum administration or other related field and a BC teaching certificate (or credentials to qualify for one) with experience in secondary learning environments and strong pedagogy;
- Strategic Leadership: Oversee the schools vision strategy and operations ensuring alignment with district plans.
- Instructional Leadership: Lead change and innovation to enhance student achievement in secondary education.
- Relationship Building: Foster strong connections with staff students parents rightsholders stakeholders and educational partners.
- School Culture: Cultivate a collaborative supportive and respectful learning environment.
- Student Success: Commit to inclusive inquirybased learning to improve student experiences.
- Curriculum Leadership: Implement effective literacy and numeracy programs based on research and student needs.
- Indigenous Education: Strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities integrating local history culture and traditions.
- Operational Management: Oversee school budgets and administrative functions efficiently.
- Professional Skills: Demonstrate expertise in organization conflict resolution communication and interpersonal relations.
- Labour Relations: Navigate personnel management within district policies the School Act collective agreements and WorkSafeBC regulations.
Salary range for this position is $157240 $165 664.
