Job Description

Summary/Objective

Plan direct or coordinate the academic administrative and auxiliary activities of a Kingman Unified School District public preschool elementary or secondary level school.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:

  1. Manage and oversee the daytoday operations and upkeep of the school facility.
  2. Create or implement school security standards policies and procedures that provide for the safety and welfare of students staff parents and visitors.
  3. Respond to emergencies threats fire alarms or intrusion alarms occurring at the school site following emergency response procedures.
  4. Evaluate curricula teaching methods and programs to determine their effectiveness efficiency and use and to ensure that school activities comply with federal state and local regulations.
  5. Observe teaching methods and examine learning materials to evaluate and standardize curricula and teaching techniques and to determine areas where improvement is needed.
  6. Counsel and provide guidance to students regarding personal academic vocational or behavioral issues.
  7. Collaborate with teachers to develop and maintain curriculum standards and set performance goals and objectives.
  8. Manage and direct building staff carrying out such responsibilities in accordance with KUSD policies and applicable laws.
  9. Assign teachers to grade level and/or subjects/sections and students to classes.
  10. Recruit hire train and evaluate certified and classified staff.
  11. Confer with parents and staff to discuss educational activities policies and student behavioral or learning problems.
  12. Enforce discipline and attendance rules.
  13. Create school improvement plans by using student performance data.
  14. Coordinate inservice training for staff.
  15. Establish and maintain professional effective relationships with students staff parents parent groups school volunteers and outside agencies.
  16. Participate in districtwide activities inservice training and committees as appropriate.
  17. Implement policy and procedure changes at the schoollevel.
  18. Prepare and manage school budget and purchasing in collaboration with the Superintendent Assistant Superintendent and/or Finance Director.

  3. Ability to apply knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment selection training evaluation and corrective action.
  4. Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems.
  5. Ability to work through complex problems evaluate options and implement solutions.
  6. Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal form.
  7. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  1. Regularly required to see talk and hear
  2. Regularly required to sit type and focus on a computer screen for long periods of time
  3. Regularly required to move from one location to another
  4. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full time exempt position. Incumbent will regularly work extended hours in the performance of duties.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Masters degree or higher from an accredited institution
  2. A minimum of one year of principal or assistant principal experience
  3. A minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience as a principal in a public school environment

Required Certifications/Licenses

  1. Valid Standard Professional Principal Prekindergarten 12 Certificate through Arizona Department of Education
  2. Valid Arizona drivers license

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
