Your role and responsibilities
You will maintain oversight of the Supplier Spend project part of Suffolk County Councils Fit for the Future Programme. Fit for the Future is a wide ranging programme and this specific projects aim is to develop and deliver anew way of working in the key areas of Strategic Commissioning and Commercialism.
As Project Manager you will have to maintain an overview of the project to design lead and maintain project plans and ensure that project timelines are adhered to and support the project team and partners in regaining momentum if they face any delays.
We will need you to deliver strong project governance and reporting acting as a link between the Project Sponsors the project delivery team and the wider organisation.
You will need to share progress and barriers to progress with the Project Board SCC management SCC communications team and the relevant Senior Responsible Officer and County Councillors. You will need to do this in simple terms and ensure key messages are always understood.
We will need you to proactively identify where to put your effort and time getting more involved to help projects to help work that gets stuck. We will need you to recognise when you need to lead and encourage and when to roll your sleeves up and give some direct capacity to the service. When things get really stuck we do expect you to escalate concerns to one of the project sponsors.
A key part of the role will be for you to establish and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders including County Council services Service Heads Assistant Directors and Directors. Facilitate regular communication and ensure their needs and expectations are met.
You will expected to recognise when there are opportunities to implement process improvements and to recognise what the levers for change are to help implement what that new process might be.
