Job Description
SUMMARY
The scope of practice of the of the physician assistant in the Hospitalist Program is to provide comprehensive health care for hospitalized adult medicine patients and shall include any and all of the following services within the competence of the physician assistant performing the services as determined by the supervising physicians assessment of his or her training and experience. The Physician Assistant assists individuals and families with their health needs by obtaining health and medical histories performing physical examinations and diagnosing health problems and cares for patients with acute and chronic diseases by managing therapeutic regimens prescribing medications and performing other studies and activities that are deemed appropriate. New and followup patients will be seen and evaluated by the PA and physician input will be obtained as necessary (as described in the PA guidelines). The PA shall be responsible for seeking supervision from a physician when needed as situations arise. The Hospitalist PA will practice within the guidelines for PAs at NSMC.
- SKILLS
- Intense attention concentration good visual verbal hearing skills and attention to detail.
- Effectively interacts with a wide range of personality types and ages is necessary.
- Effectively interacts with diverse cultural backgrounds.
EXPERIENCE
- 3 years of experience to include inpatient / outpatient care preferred.
EDUCATION
- PA must be a graduate from an accredited program.
- Masters Degree Preferred
LICENSURE CERTIFCATION OR REGISTRATION
- Must have current PA license in the Commonwealth of MA
