Our dedicated Virtual Schools Team are on the lookout for a passionate and committed individual to join them as a Virtual School Officer with a focus in our Extended Duties team.

As a Virtual Schools Officer (VSO) you will work with the Extended Duties Manager in meeting the guidance for promoting the education for children with a social worker. Promoting the education of children with a social worker and children in kinship care arrangements: virtual school head role extension GOV. Your work will also support the Virtual School Headteacher with meeting their statutory duty to promote the education of children looked after (CLA) Promoting the education of lookedafter and previously lookedafter children GOV.UKacross school age and post 16 pupils and support Designated Teachers in with meeting their statutory duty Designated teacher for lookedafter and previously lookedafter children GOV

This is your chance to support and facilitate improved educational outcomes ensuring that young people with a social worker have access to vital services and prepare them for training further education higher education or employment. This will be achieved though working with multiagency teams including Social Workers School staff and local authority officers.

As part of this role youll be responsible for identifying and overcoming complex challenges customising high quality educational experiences to cater to the unique needs of children and young people with a social worker and who are in care. This role requires direct oversight of a caseload of CLA including the personal education plan (PEP) process and requires a hybrid working model (on site at Wiltshire hubs/school visits as well as working from home). The Wiltshire hubs are County Hall Trowbridge Monkton Park Chippenham or Bourne Hill Salisbury.

Our ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant field such as Education Social Care Child Development or Psychology. We are seeking an individual with an extensive background and extensive knowledge of educational issues affecting children with a social worker and in care on national local and school levels. Exceptional communication skills are a must as youll be expected to grow relationships and engage effectively with colleagues and partners. The ideal candidate will also possess specific experience working in schools/settings supporting children from early years through statutory school ages to post 16.
