We are focused on launching a generation of diverse tech talent into the workforce with an emphasis on Black LatinX Native American lowincome women and gender nonconforming individuals because those who break into todays tech jobs will be writing the rules that will shape the future for all of us.

Hosted by Cornell Tech Break Through Tech AI is the new program from Break Through Tech on a mission to credential and fasttrack undergraduate women into careers in the fastestgrowing areas of tech: data science machine learning and artificial intelligence. Developed with industry leaders the Break Through Tech AI Program includes three highlevel components that are considered critical for increasing the competitiveness and marketability of students pursuing AI/ML engineering roles: 1 skillsbased training through our Summer Machine Learning Foundations Course 2 industryrelevant portfolios through our AI Studio program and 3 mentorship career coaching and job placement support. Over the next four years the Break Through Tech AI Program will expand nationwide to foster a diverse next generation of AI leaders who will build AI technologies that are fairer and more representative of our society.

Position Summary

At a high level this role will oversee three core areas: 1 instructor hiring onboarding and management 2 oversight of course and program implementation ensuring success of the Hubs and instructors through activities such as data management onboarding and support throughout delivery and 3 university partner management to fuel the development of Break Through Techs instructional help model including the recruitment of Instructional Hubs.

Successful candidates will need to have and display the following competencies as part of this role:

This is a fulltime benefitseligible 3year term position with the possibility of renewal. There is flexibility for the individual in this role to have a hybrid schedule and primary work location at the Cornell Tech campus on Roosevelt Island in New York City or to be primarily remote. The Senior Manager is expected to be on campus at least for key meetings and events when necessary.

Starting salary range: $96800 to $112000

Essential Functions Include

Instructor hiring onboarding and management 40

  • Recruit and vet instructional staff to lead the Machine Learning Foundations course
  • Collaborate with the product design team on the design and delivery of instructional staff training
  • Oversee instructional staff including leading instructional staff through weekly meetings ensuring instructor grading is completed in a timely manner monitoring instructor performance data and sharing positive and constructive feedback with instructors
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team environment by recognizing achievements celebrating milestones and supporting instructors in their roles
  • Facilitate and foster the delivery of Communities of Practice between instructional hub staff during the Summer Machine Learning course delivery.
  • Ensure the overall success of instructional staff and in turn the student experience
  • Identify and onboard AI Studio course support/tutors to support industry project delivery during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Oversight of course and program implementation 25

  • Lead the coordination of summer course operations to ensure a smooth best in class student experience. Responsible for ensuring student course questions are answered by instructors in a timely manner and troubleshoot platform issues with the core platforms used to deliver the course (Canvas Codio and Slack).

  • Track and analyze data and metrics on a weekly basis during the ML Foundations course to produce scorecards that support the measurement and refinement of lab delivery on a weekly basis; this data will be shared with both national leadership and instructional hub leadership teams.

University partner management 30

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with our network of Instructional Hubs a coalition of colleges and universities across the US committed to democratizing access to high quality AI education
  • Own strategic planning for and development of Break Through Techs new instructional hub model including identifying vetting and recruiting bestfit universities to serve as instructional hubs to deliver the Machine Learning Foundations course for the Break Through Tech AI Virtual Program
  • Oversee the development of marketing materials to support promotion of instructional hub opportunity to bestfit university partners in aims of generating proposals from prospective university partners
  • Lead prospective universities through the instructional hub application process ensuring expectations for participation are clear
  • Review proposals and negotiate contracts with selected instructional hub partners
  • Effectively manage university partner relationships including executive university constituents over an annual basis ensuring universities continue to work with Break Through Tech year over year. Recruit 8 instructional hubs annually requiring close relationship management with highlevel university leaders
  • Develop document and operate tools and systems that support the establishment and expansion of university partnerships
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with partner contacts (including Higher Education faculty and administrative leadership) through outreach and targeted communication.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters Degree and 35 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Passion for diversity in tech education and social impact.
  • Excellent teaching and facilitation skills with an ability to model for others
  • Deep expertise in best practice for online course management and virtual/remote teaching at scale
  • Experience managing recruiting and onboarding instructional staff
  • Demonstrated ability to drive learning outcomes through high quality instruction
  • Fluency in coaching and developing instructional talent to maximize student outcomes
  • Experience managing partnerships overseeing programs and operations and/or implementing platforms
  • Must have strong organizational and project management skills with demonstrated experience meeting milestones and deadlines over a sustained period of time.
  • Must have strong facilitation and publicspeaking skills.
  • Has a demonstrated track record of using data and metrics to drive decisions and measure performance; has a strong attention to detail and demonstrates utmost data integrity.
  • Is comfortable navigating ambiguity and is highly flexible and adaptable in a fastpaced teamoriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate with work effectively with and maintain a positive rapport with students professors and academic leaders alike.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship building qualities are essential in order to develop and maintain strong external relationships.
  • Must be able to take a leadership role as public spokesperson for the Break Through Tech AI Program
  • Ability to perform at both strategic and tactical levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing highly technical instruction and instructional staff with a preference for Data Science and/or coding courses
  • Additional relevant work experience beyond 5 years.
  • Experience with platform troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Codio or equivalent platform.
  • Experience with Canvas or equivalent LMS tool.
  • Experience with Salesforce or equivalent CRM tool.
  • Experience with Mailchimp or equivalent email marketing tool.
  • Experience with Yesware or equivalent email marketing tool.
