Camp Director - San Diego

EDMOs summer team members spend 510 weeks of summer connecting with kids honing leadership skills and making a real impact all while rocking wacky costumes and getting pied in the face! Our summer positions offer a unique opportunity to help kids uncover hidden talents and dive deeper into existing talents. Spend your summer pursuing your goals and developing invaluable transferrable professional skills (including staff hiring management and coaching).

Leading up to camp Camp Directors hire and train camp staff. Once summer begins Camp Directors are responsible for operational oversight pertaining to their assigned location. In addition to a full time summer component this job includes a parttime spring component that includes training hiring and preparation for running camp.

Main duties include:

• Participating in any precamp training professional development or in season meetings
• Managing all aspects of Camp EDMO daily operations for your onsite location
• Hiring training and managing a team of Instructors and Counselors
• Providing high caliber customer service by anticipating and addressing any kid staff or parent challenges and/or concerns
• Communicating with parents as needed to make sure they are up to date on what their kids are experiencing at camp
• Ensuring all staff campers and parents are safe and have a positive experience in our program this includes diligently following all EDMO Covid19 guidelines and restrictions
• Setting up and packing up camp making sure that all needed materials are received and that anything necessary is returned at the camps closure
• Managing host locations and relationships making sure that locations and partners are treated with respect
• Exhibiting the EDMO Vibe and demonstrating through actions and words each of the social emotional learning (SEL) skills of empathy responsibility initiative collaboration problem solving and emotion management while also reinforcing these qualities in staff and kids

Reports to: Region Manager

Manages: A team of Instructors and Counselors

Preferred qualifications are:

• Bachelors Degree in education or a related course of study
• Experience working with youth of all ages
• Past involvement/experience in a summer camp environment as staff (or as a camper!
• Experience hiring and managing a team of employees
• Experience (and a love for! working with kids
• High sense of responsibility and dependability
• Experience communicating and engaging with parents
• Ability to be creative and flexible with problem solving and multitasking
• Experience facilitating groups of children and/or working youth programs with proven classroom management
• A large supply of costumes and/or a plethora of skits and songs in your back pocket is a PLUS!
• Willingness to wear a mask remain social distant at all location sites and be meticulous about diligently following all EDMO Covid19 guidelines and restrictions as it pertains to matters of safety

Additional Info:

• CPR/First Aid Certification is required by the full time start date. Certification must include an inperson CPR component. If you are not already certified some compensation will be available.
• Must be fully vaccinated with the COVID 19 vaccine to work with EDMO
• Part time role in spring with around 100 hours of training paid at $25/hr
