Job Description
Work Based Learning Opportunity Manufacturing (Part Time)
This role is part of Mohawk IndustriesWork Based Learning Program (WBLP)andis only open to qualifying students currently enrolled in High School. The WBLP with Mohawk is designed to allow students the ability to learn develop and build onto their industry related skills within manufacturing while completing a High School curriculum.*Students who do NOT need the WBL credit may still apply but strongly encouraged for those seeking credit in WBL.*
Your Role:
- Checks material for defects before packing out to ensure high quality products are delivered to internal departments and/or customers.
- Collects finished product and prepacks it at a wrap /staging station. Single lines utilize carts/buggies to transport material to a stretch wrap station.
- Manually loads packaged material onto cardboard trays and secures the material or products for transport to designated areas.
- Pulls and stages materials as required to meet production demands.
- Place proper labeling on packaged cases.
- Manually label and load cones into magazines to keep doff process fluid and uninterrupted.
- Required to pass color test to be able to perform quality checks of material as it is being produced and packed out
Qualifications:
- Current High School Junior or Senior at least 17 years old
- Read/write/ communicate in English
- Successful completion of on the job training programs.
- Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training.
- May be required to use PC and other department specific database systems.
- Reads and writes in standard English and proficient performing basic math calculations such as addition and subtraction.
- Prior experience in a warehouse or as a general laborer preferred.
- Good oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with others in the immediate work unit and in related support areas.
- Ability to follow simple verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work in conditionsthat may includehazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by moving mechanical parts airborne particles and noise.
- Requires standing more than 2/3 of time.
- Requires regular lifting up to 16 pound cones of yarntimes per shift.
