This is an exciting time to be joining Haverings Assessment & Placement Team whose role within the wider SEND Service is to manage the statutory processes relating to Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The team have grown significantly with a varied range of new roles created which contribute to a strong sense of belonging within the team support and development for all team members and many opportunities for career progression.
The purpose of the Senior SEND Tribunals & Resolutions Officer is to support the Assessment & Placement Team Manager to manage the appeals received by the team in Havering fairly and transparently contributing to improved outcomes for children and young people with SEND working with families and other agencies to seek alternative solutions to appeal or negotiate settlements to appearls. The role requires collaborative work with parents carers settings partners and childen and young people to minimise SEND Tribunal activity thus allowing resources to be targeted elsewhere. The purpose of the role is also to work with families and other stakeholders to support colleagues in responding to complaints as required undertaking mediation where appropriate.
We are seeking applications from candidates with a background in SEND law or experienced SEND Case Officers with relevant SEND Tribunal experience who are looking to take the next step in their career. Candidates will have excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and of SEND Tribunal processes as well as excellent interpersonal skills problemsolving skills and ability to think strategically and in a solutionfocused way to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people with SEND and other stakeholders.
