The Fundraising Development Specialist works directly with the Development and Communications Department staff in planning and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy. Responsible for obtaining funds by promoting the organizations interest and benefits to donors. Work with corporations businesses foundations and individuals to secure support via grants major gifts and planned gifts. Identify new donor bases coordinate solicitation of funds and refine/improve solicitation strategies and procedures.
SCOPE OF DUTIES:
- Conduct donor research establishing an annual method to solicit major gifts.
- Work with the VP in the development of a strategic development plan.
- Coordinate with program directors to secure resources targeted to program objectives and needs.
- Work with department staff to meet fundraising goals for events and other initiatives.
- Oversee the acknowledgment of all donors including reviewing all letters created by the Development and Communications Clerk. Understand the process for creating and sending acknowledgment letters.
- Support monthly newsletter through relevant development stories and initiatives.
- Identify and develop corporate community and individual prospects for the organizations fundraising priorities.
- Assist with writing grant applications.
- Report monthly to VP on fundraising activity and show metrics for all fundraising activities.
- Cultivate donors through relationship building and understanding their giving intentions and passions
- Increase both major gifts and individual giving by establishing new engagement activities to increase positive response by 5 a quarter.
- Work with vendors to increase their giving priorities.
- Represent Volunteers of America at networking events and communitybased meetings to promote awareness.
- Lead event and campaign planning.
- Keep up with ongoing grants.
- Work with accounting to place donations in the correct places.
- Present monthly at senior management meetings as needed.
- Maintain frequent and consistent contact with programs to assess their needs.
- Interact and communicate (verbally and nonverbally) with all clients staff and outside contacts professionally with respect and courtesy.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding client staff and agency information in compliance with policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings supervisory conferences training sessions and meetings as required.
- Ensure compliance with agency Administrative Policies and Procedures.
