You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailReporting to the Logistics Supervisor and under the guidance of Logistics Coordinators the Logistics Technician is responsible for providing support to Paramedic Services Operations through vehicle and equipment preparation and restocking. The Logistics Technician will also process clean disinfect and prepare conveyance equipment response bags and other ancillary equipment. The Logistics Technician will be involved in special cleaning of ambulances and equipment as needed. Work is scheduled on days afternoons and weekends but can involve varying shift times and duration and statutory holidays. The Logistics Technician may also be involved in picking and delivering stock.
1. Clean and sanitize ambulances and emergency response vehicles such as but not limited to routine and deep cleaning of vehicles. This can include cleaning biohazardous materials out of vehicles to return into service. Maintain related documentation.
2. Clean and sanitize equipment response bags bins etc. This can include cleaning biohazardous materials out of equipment and response bags to return into service. Maintain related documentation.
3. Handle and dispose soiled linen dirty equipment and biohazardous material such as medical supplies that have come in contact with blood and bodily fluids as per set processes standards and regulations. Safely contain and remove biohazardous waste and garbage.
4. Perform general housekeeping duties within the garage and work site.
5. Prepare and restock response bags bins and vehicles. Monitor and rotate supplies that have an expiry date to maximize lifecycle and reduce spoilage.
6. Maintain appropriate stock levels and inventories ensuring that equipment is rotated and serviced to maximize efficiency through reduced downtime and equipment availability.
7. Conduct inventory/supply audits in vehicles and in the working warehouse.
8. Replace/remove old expired or broken packaging in vehicle inventories including but not limited to linen oxygen tanks consumable medical supplies and medications.
9. Exchange and report on defective equipment and ensure proper documentation.
10. Input data and maintain records including inventory movement equipment inspections and maintenance and vehicle inspections and maintenance.
11. Recharge condition and rotate batteries for equipment.
12. Perform N95 qualitative mask fit testing for paramedic service staff. Submit documentation and provide a consistent application of testing procedures to ensure staff are properly fitted to N95 masks.
13. Support LongTerm Care in receiving picking and delivering PPE supplies to the County of Simcoes four LTC homes as required.
14. Conduct cleaning and sanitizing of Paramedic stations and posts. Working with Paramedic Operations Paramedic Logistics and County Facility staff the Logistics Technician will be responsible for heavy cleaning of Paramedic facilities. The duties will include sanitizing the facility general cleaning floor maintenance and garage floor cleaning to reduce the requirement for pumping drains.
15. Stock equipment bags and vehicles with medical supplies for frontline Paramedic staff according to MOHLTC Provincial Equipment Standards by checks on each medical supply for name concentration lot number expiry date and other pertinent information.
16. Review and prioritize with Logistics Coordinator any related issues or concerns reported though the Service Request System (SRS) for priority action.
17. Perform tasks associated with ambulance and Rapid Response standardization program including visually checking items in order to ready all equipment/supplies cleaning disinfecting documentation as well as electronic reporting to ensure every vehicle is the same.
18. Receive supplies and prepare materials being shipped for outside servicing (e.g. oxygen cylinders soiled linen waste sharps). Maintain a computerized inventory of equipment and
supplies and keep records performed.
19. Complete full cleaning and decontamination of vehicles and/or equipment that have come in contact with decontaminants while following infection control and health and safety procedures.
20. Assist with the deployment of equipment and medical supplies at emergency/disaster sites under the direction of the management team.
21. Deliver medical supplies equipment and linen to Paramedic Stations and County hospitals for frontline usage. Return and report any broken and expired supplies back to Central Stores.
22. Conduct vehicle inspections and ensure vehicles are connected to shore power when not in operational use.
23. Recommend to supervisor such changes as may be required to improve efficiency effectiveness and performance.
24. Receive stock and distribute products equipment and associated supplies by stock rotation cycle counting warehouse organization warranty and recall situations.
25. Perform tasks related to quality assurance and quality control to ensure compliance with provincial Acts and Regulations Municipal Bylaws Standard Operating Procedures and Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) Certification standards (e.g. minimum required supplies expiration dates).
26. Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
27. Maintain work area and perform work in a safe efficient and courteous manner.
28. Inspection of vehicle operations systems and fluids.
29. Assist with project work such as new equipment selection equipment rollout into frontline operations and inventory management processes and new concepts.
30. Other duties as assigned in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
31. Provide guidance to the new staff during orientation or when support is needed.
32. Comply with provincial and County occupational health and safety legislation regulations policies and procedures.
33. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Successful completion of Secondary School Graduation Diploma or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a valid Class G Drivers License and must demonstrate the ability to maneuver a trailer within 30 days of the commencement of employment.
Possess and maintain at minimum a valid Basic Rescuer CPR and First Aid certificate
Demonstrate computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications including word processing and spreadsheet applications and ability to use other applications as required.
Good organizational and communication skills.
Must be able to obtain and maintain any required certifications to conduct duties.
Criminal Records check that is less than ninety 90 days old at time of hire.
Possess strong resiliency and coping skills.
Independent and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Ability to read and interpret sketches flow charts schedules equipment manuals.
Ability to maintain accurate written and electronic records.
Demonstration of effective planning and timemanagement skills including the ability to multitask effectively and manage changing priorities.
One 1 year in material handling and inventory control including experience with quality control and related functions obtained in a health care setting large warehouse or multisite environment or combination of education and experience.
Experience in LEAN warehouse practices is an asset.
Experience in computerized material management systems.
Experience in working with cleaning and disinfection of dirty or contaminated items.
Understanding of 24 hour operations.
Working with medical supplies and equipment is an asset.
Detailed oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be physically capable of handling carrying loading and unloading heavy supplies and equipment independently of up to 50 lbs.
Pushing pulling loading overhead reaching and lifting various weights.
Must be physically capable of bending or kneeling possibly for long periods of time.
Use of computers or tablets to complete documentation.
Will require frequent periods of heavy concentration mental and visual attentiveness when conducting ambulance equipment and supply checks cleaning and disinfection.
The Logistics Technicians work must be done with precision and accuracy. Failure to comply with Policies and Procedures regarding equipment/supply inventory and maintenance completion can result in missing or inoperable equipment and supplies while Paramedics are servicing an Emergency call.
Vehicle checks conducted by Logistics Technicians can be called into question by the Ministry of Health or the Ministry of Transportation if they fail to meet standards and legislation.
Ability to work days nights and weekend shifts as required.
Ability to work safely with the proper use of P.P.E. for the purpose of cleaning and reprocessing medical equipment.
Ability to work under time pressures or emergency situations.
Risk of exposure to body fluids biohazardous and infectious materials.
Risk of exposure to disturbing information regarding emergency calls.
Exposure to inclement weather and road conditions.
Driving in all types of weather conditions to Paramedic service facilities or where otherwise indicated.
