Job Description

The mission of the Bureau of Environmental Disease and Injury Prevention is to prevent environmental disease and injury in homes communities and the workplace and to protect health by promoting healthy environments and health equity.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Manage daytoday administrative tasks associated with grant implementation including crossunit internal coordination developing timelines staff allocation and budgeting.
Hire and supervise CRS II staff and interns.
Oversee staff conducting analyses of micromobility injury hospital data to support inform and evaluate new or existing program initiatives for traffic safety.
Assess existing traffic injury data sources including SPARCS and Syndromic Surveillance for the opportunity to improve understanding of the burden of micromobility injuries by age neighborhood of residence and other sociodemographic factors.
Assimilate and analyze multiple data sources from emergency department and inpatient hospital admissions data.
Provide support for ongoing surveillance projects including managing large datasets involving multiple years of data data cleaning such as ensuring consistent coding of variables preparing datasets for analysis and conducting analyses.
Participate in coordination among external research partners.
Conduct quality assurance of other analysts work and project outputs. Provide technical and analytical support for data collection management and reporting for micromobility injury measurement efforts.
Create and format publicationquality data tables and reports for internal and external use. Create revise and maintain data management documentation including data dictionaries and codebooks.
Present data in written and oral form internally and to key stakeholders. Analyze surveillance and program initiative data and produce reports for internal and external dissemination. Perform all other responsibilities and projects as assigned by supervisors.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
The candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills and experience with scientific writing. Competency in the use of Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint is strongly preferred.
The individual will possess project management skills as well as an ability to easily adapt to multiple programmatic and/or functional areas.
Ability to work collaboratively in a crossdisciplinary team environment.
A background and experience in research and data analysis is highly desirable.
Experience in mentoring and guiding less experienced analysts and scientists in data analysis.

Qualifications :

1. For Assignment Level I (only physical biological and environmental sciences and public health) A masters degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological or environmental science or in public health.
To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above candidates must have:
1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological environmental or social science and one year of fulltime experience in a responsible supervisory administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
2. A masters degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological environmental or social science and three years of responsible fulltime research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least a masters degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in 2 above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in 1 and 2 above.

Probationary Period
Appointments to this position are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.
