Job Description

The Department of Professional Psychology and Family Therapy within the College of Human Development Culture and Media at Seton Hall University invites applications for a fulltime senior faculty member at the Associate or Full Professor rank who will serve as Department Chair for an initial threeyear term.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Professional Psychology & Family Therapy is an interdisciplinary department that offers Masters programs in Counseling School Counseling (CAEP accredited) Applied Behavior Analysis and Psychological Studies as well as Educational Specialist degree programs in Professional Counseling and School Psychology and Doctoral program in Counseling Psychology (APA accredited).

The candidate will be expected to have a strong presence on our South Orange NJ campus while engaging in an array of highimpact activities with students that includes teaching advisement research mentoring and program development. Candidates are also expected to have an established research program of high impact scholarship.

The Department of Professional Psychology and Family Therapy its faculty and academic programs have a strong commitment to preparing competent socially conscious reflective professionals. This includes training counselors school counselors and other professionals who are multiculturally oriented committed to advancing social justice and who are prepared to meet the challenges of working in complex urban settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential responsibilities include a sixcredit academic year teaching load during the anticipated initial 3year term as Department Chair 18 credits per academic year if not serving as the Chair) research activities commensurate with an R2 institution and highly engaged service to the Department College and University. The candidate should also have a proven track record with program accreditation. The department will be working toward CACREP accreditation.

Teaching assignments will be within the counseling and school counseling graduate programs. Anticipated service as the Department Chair will entail leadership management and development of the Department and its fulltime and adjunct faculty. The Department Chair reports to the Dean of the College and is charged with the effective operation of the Department as outlined in the Universitys Faculty Guide as well as the maintenance and innovation of its academic portfolio and related student enrollments.

Collaborate with the Colleges Office of Fieldwork and Certification to provide clinical supervision of students. Partner with Departmental colleagues and the Office of College Effectiveness in support of establishing accreditation of the Counseling Programs and ABA Program and maintaining APA accreditation for the Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program. Further we seek an individual who works collaboratively collegially and respectfully to promote the mission of the Department College and University.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Counselor Education or an applicable discipline as articulated in accreditor standards. Candidates must have a demonstrated scholarly record commensurate with appointment as a senior faculty member at a doctorategranting institution as well as experience mentoring students as part of capstone research. Successful candidates are expected to have prior administrative and leadership experience as well as familiarity with teaching online and oncampus. Consistent with the commitments of the Department College and University the successful candidate must be dedicated to infusing multicultural content and social justice principles across all course work.

Eligibility for licensure as a Professional Counselor or certification as a School Counselor in New Jersey (NJ is a member of the Counseling Compact).
