Job Description
LabCorp is seeking a visionary and operationsdriven Lab Director to lead our laboratory team at Dell Childrens Medical Center in Austin Texas . This role focuses on overseeing laboratory operations ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and driving quality and efficiency. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership a deep understanding of CLIA and CAP requirements and a proven track record in laboratory management. Position Summary:
The Lab Director oversees all operational aspects of the laboratory with a focus on productivity quality assurance compliance and costeffectiveness. This leadership role ensures the laboratory operates at peak performance to support client needs and regulatory standards.
Schedule: Monday Friday 8am 4:30pm Flexibility with schedule to ensure effective business support.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Plan organize and direct laboratory operations to meet client requirements and achieve organizational goals.
- Develop and implement productivity benchmarks costcontrol measures and strategic initiatives for operational efficiency.
- Evaluate and enhance laboratory workflows ensuring alignment with compliance and quality standards.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure strict adherence to CLIA CAP Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory and safety standards.
- Oversee quality control and quality assurance programs ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
- Maintain and update standard operating procedures to reflect best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Operational Oversight:
- Monitor laboratory performance including the physical environment equipment needs and supply chain management.
- Collaborate with technical staff to assess and implement new equipment and automation technologies.
- Manage the calibration and verification of assays and ensure processes align with quality and operational goals.
- Team Development:
- Lead and develop a highperforming team of supervisors and lead technologists through coaching training and performance management.
- Conduct annual competency reviews to ensure staff meet performance expectations and compliance requirements.
- Foster a culture of collaboration continuous learning and innovation within the laboratory team.
- Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as a primary liaison between the laboratory and client leadership ensuring clear communication and alignment with expectations.
- Maintain strong customerfocused relationships resolving operational issues proactively and effectively.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background:
- Masters degree in Biology Chemistry Medical Technology or a related life science with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- OR Bachelors degree in a related life science with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Certifications:
- ASCP AMT or equivalent laboratory certification required.
- Experience and Skills:
- Proven experience in highvolume hospitalbased laboratory settings.
- Strong working knowledge of CLIA CAP Joint Commission and statespecific regulations.
- Familiarity with laboratory QA processes calibration and verification of assays.
- Proficient in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated success in coaching and developing both technical and nontechnical staff.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills with a focus on problemsolving and decisionmaking.
- Experience managing laboratory operations across multiple locations preferred.
