International Card Services (ICS) Risk & Control Operations (IR&CO) is responsible for supporting our international issuing and acquiring businesses across 27 countries and ensuring they have a robust first line of defence. We are seeking a UK based Risk Manager to join our Business Conduct team to support the roll out and ongoing governance of our Business Conduct Program.
Our Business Conduct Program provides clear standards and governance for all ICS customer facing interactions to ensure that ICS operates with the highest conduct standards as individuals and as a team.
How will you make an impact in this role
The role will report to the Business Conduct Program Director based in the UK and will have a remit for overseeing the development and of the International Business Conduct related consequence management framework. This will involve developing and operationalizing principles and processes to ensure ICS management effectively respond to the identification of noncompliant behaviours within its customer facing colleague (CFC) population.
The successful candidate will align the ICS framework to the AMEX Business Conduct Enterprise policy standards and will oversee of necessary changes with critical stakeholders.
Strategy & Control Development
- Translate Enterprise standards related to Customer Facing Interaction (CFI) as they apply to Consequence Management obligations for the ICS business to inform the development of a robust framework for ensuring noncompliant CFIs are addressed.
- Develop the ICS Business Conduct Consequence Management strategy in collaboration with business leaders and key stakeholders (compliance Colleague Labor Relations Employment General Counsel Operations Financial performance and insights and sales & business enablement groups) setting standards for behavioural and potential financial outcomes for colleagues demonstrating noncompliant behaviours.
- Ensuring robust and fully approved operating procedures are documented inclusive of process risk controls and dispute / escalation protocols to ensure a consistent approach to the internal management of compliance risks and to ensure effective customer remediation protocols are in place.
- Partner with counterparts in other business units compliance and other risk experts to identify trends leverage best practices and opportunities to uplift streamline and enhance ongoing ICS governance controls for all international markets. Where possible driving consistency for ICS at the market and Legal Entity level.
Framework
- Facilitate Business Conduct risk awareness activities ensuring colleagues and business leaders understand their obligations regarding the delivery of compliant customer interactions and management of errors identified.
- Collaborate with ICS Business Conduct IR&CO strategic leads to ensure dependencies for Consequence Management oversight (monitoring Reporting & Capabilities) are aligned to support the rollout of the International Consequence Management framework.
- Ensure local market legal and regulatory obligations regarding the application of consequence actions are documented and where required reasonable adjustments are made to the framework.
- Function as point of contact for the ICS Consequence Management framework providing process & control input to second line third line and external reviews (compliance internal Audit regulators) as required.
- Oversee outcomes from local consequence management processes and support local decision makers in resolving disputed cases driving consistency across international.
Minimum Qualifications:
- An experienced risk manager Aptitude to operate within a policy and process driven environment. Comfortable navigating a complex fast paced environment often with strict deadlines high degrees of ambiguity and Compliance / regulatory commitments.
- Strategic thinker Able to translate complex concepts into operational strategies and gain buy in from key stakeholders.
- Collaboration Strong collaboration skills and ability to positively work through conflict.
- Strong analytical & Process Improvement skillsAbility to work with large volume of data in an organized and systematic approach using outputs to drive process improvement.
- Excellent Relationship management skills Rapidly build trust & credibility with strategic stakeholders including but not limited to; Regional IR&CO Business Conduct workstream and leads Market Control Management experts Sales and Account Development teams Colleague Labour Relations (CLR) General Counsel employment teams International Field Enablement (IFE) Regional and Local Compliance officers Privacy and strategic counterparts in other business units.
