Our story began during a road trip in the 1990s where our founders Will and Andy travelled across America collecting vintage items while living out of motels. They started purchasing vintage clothing in the USA and selling it wholesale which eventually led to the creation of stores. From there they began designing reworked vintage pieces and thus Motel was born.

Over 30 years and a team of 200 people later every piece of clothing we make is created with the same spirit of fun freedom and adventure as the road trip that first defined the brand. Were still ambitious and independent but now were a global team we work from an operational base in Worcester a design studio in London and a creative studio in Bali.

The role

The Head of Sample & CAD will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Sample and CAD(ComputerAided Design) Digitizer plotter marker pattern & grading) department within themultinational apparel company. The primary focus will be on utilizing CAD (ComputerAided Design)(Digitizer plotter marker pattern & grading technologies effectively to streamline the sampledevelopment process and enhance design accuracy.

Main tasks & responsibilities

1. Responsible for implementing best practices in using CAD software and other
digital tools for pattern making sample development and design.

2. Oversee the entire sample development process from concept to final
product ensuring timely and adherence to quality standards. Collaborate with the design andproduction teams to achieve the desired design aesthetics and functionality.

3. Utilize CAD software to create and modify patterns samples and design prototypes.
Ensure that all CAD designs are accurate and align with the design teams vision.

4. Identify and implement the latest CAD technologies and tools that can
enhance efficiency and accuracy in the sample development process. Stay updated with industry trendsand innovations in CAD.

5. Lead and manage the Sample & CAD team providing guidance training and
mentorship to enhance their skills and productivity. Foster a collaborative and innovative workenvironment within the department.

6. Establish and maintain strict quality control measures to ensure that all samples and
CAD designs meet the companys quality standards and customer requirements.

7. Collaborate with various departments including design productionand merchandising to align sample development with production capabilities and customer demands.

8. Identify opportunities to optimize costs in the sample development processwithout compromising on quality and design integrity.

9. Streamline the sample development workflow to improve efficiency and
reduce lead times enabling the company to respond quickly to market demands.

10. Provide training and development opportunities to team members toenhance their CAD CAM skills and knowledge.

About you

1. Bachelors degree / Dimple in Textile Fashion Technology or a related field.
2. Proven experience in working with CAD CAM technologies in the apparel industry is essential.
3. Minimum of 510 years of experience in sample development CAD design or a related role within theapparel industry.
4. Previous experience in a leadership or managerial position is preferred.
5. Indepth knowledge of pattern making garment construction and production processes.
6. Familiarity with industryspecific CAD software and tools.
7. Strong leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fastpaced environment.
9. Experience working in a multinational apparel company will be advantageous.
