Job Description
High school diploma or equivalent and eligibility to attend a certified Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T. basic training academy. Qualify for and satisfactorily meet the ongoing standards of the basic P.O.S.T. academy training. Possess mental capacity physical agility and learning potential to perform all aspects of P.O.S.T. training and police work. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Also the following: Must be fingerprinted and undergo a background check. Must have valid California drivers license. Must not have been convicted of a felony in this state or any other state or in any federal jurisdiction which would have been a felony if committed in this state. Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime containing the elements of domestic violence. This provision applies to all convictions either prior to or after the passage of law. Must satisfy citizen requirements. A police cadet must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Must be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation. Must be a high school graduate pass the General Education Development GED Test indicating high school graduation level or have attained a twoyear or fouryear degree from a college or university. Must meet the requirements of a preemployment physical emotional and mental examination. A drug test will be administered as part of the required medical examination. Must pass a physical ability examination. Must have taken the Post EntryLevel Law Enforcement Test Battery PELLET B) within the past six months and obtained a minimum Tscore of 48. Must be able to learn quickly and apply specific University rules and regulations; must be able to prepare clear and concise reports; must be able to relate to and be able to gain the confidence and cooperation of members of the campus community; must be able to deal tactfully and effectively with a wide range of people; must be able to act calmly and rationally in emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical fluency with Microsoft Office Professional Suite OraclePeopleSoft/ CMS baseline system; and Google mail and calendaring programs. Experience working with a diverse and multicultural population and performing community services.
