Job Summary
We are part of the India & Emerging Stores Customer Fulfilment Experience Org. Teams mission is to address unique customer requirements and the increasing associated costs/abuse of returns and rejects for Emerging Stores. Our team implements tech solves that reduce the net cost of concessions/refunds - this includes buyer and seller abuse costs associated with return/reject transportation cost of contacts and operations cost at return centers.
Were building a brand-new from-the-ground-up initiative in the fast-growing world of reducing NCRC cost and were looking for a passionate driven Software Development Manager (SDM) to help lead the way.
This is a true Greenfield opportunity where were creating an entirely new shopping experience that reimagines how customers discover shop and receive products - all within minutes. Our charter spans the entire supply chain optimizations: from AI/ML based forecasting automated buying to an efficient transhipment seamless hub operations best in class inventory management and delightful vendor experiences.
Youll be joining a tight-knit high-caliber team of Senior SDEs Principal Engineers Applied Scientists and TPMs who are energized by solving customer problems at scale. Own building Amazon first ground-up tech capabilities and products
You will own building technology that innovates for the fast growing e-commerce domain in India and beyond
To enable this business initiatives you will lead the definition and execution of strategic projects aimed at building best-in-class experience for customer and delivery experience
You will have end to end ownership of cross-functional projects including product definition roadmap/resource planning and project execution.
You will work closely with product business category and marketing leadership including executive leadership at Amazon to define the product and build vision for the program.
At the heart of this role is technology innovation. You will be hands-on in driving the delivery of critical technical initiatives right from building the vision requirements definition designing solution with Amazon first innovation in combination with leveraging Amazons global technology solutions and delivering high quality scalable tech capabilities.

Mission: We own programs to prevent customer abuse for IN & emerging marketplaces. We detect abusive customers for known abuse patterns and apply interventions at different stages of buyers journey like checkout pre-fulfillment shipment and customer contact (customer service). We closely partner with International machine learning team to build ML based solutions for above interventions.
Vision: Our goal is to automate detection of new abuse patterns and act quickly to minimize financial loss to Amazon. This would act as a deterrent for abusers while building trust for genuine customers. We use machine learning based models to automate the abuse detection in a scalable & efficient manner.
- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of engineering experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
