Responsible for underwriting activities and P&L responsibility of the various products (i.e. Marine Property and Engineering products Financial Lines and Liability Accident and Health Motor Workers Compensation SME and Home etc.) and managing UW relationship with intermediaries and business partners in the area of underwriting service delivery product development and innovation.

Your New Role

  • Underwrite Financial Lines business in accordance with the approved business plan underwriting standards delegated underwriting authority and all applicable legal and regulatory requirements

  • Assess new business and renewal risks including pricing terms and conditions to support profitable and sustainable portfolio growth

  • Manage and develop strong relationships with brokers intermediaries business partners customers and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality underwriting service and support business objectives

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the Financial Lines portfolio plan including renewal retention new business opportunities and overall portfolio performance

  • Maintain a strong understanding of market dynamics competitor activity emerging risks and product developments within Financial Lines

  • Apply sound underwriting judgement risk assessment techniques pricing tools and portfolio insights to support consistent decision-making

  • Ensure all underwriting activities are completed in line with QBE policies governance requirements underwriting authorities internal controls and audit expectations

  • Maintain accurate underwriting records documentation and reporting to support transparency compliance and effective portfolio management

  • Participate in relevant meetings and contribute to the sharing of technical knowledge best practice and market insights across the team

  • Continue to develop technical expertise in Financial Lines underwriting relevant legislation regulatory requirements systems and organisational guidelines

About You

  • Relevant experience in Financial Lines underwriting or a related commercial insurance discipline

  • Sound understanding of underwriting principles risk assessment pricing considerations and policy terms relevant to Financial Lines

  • Established relationships with brokers intermediaries or corporate clients would be highly regarded

  • Strong awareness of market conditions emerging risks and regulatory considerations affecting Financial Lines business

  • Strong analytical numerical communication negotiation and relationship management skills

  • Ability to use underwriting systems pricing tools and data insights to support informed decision-making

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other relevant underwriting or business systems
