Senior Director Merchandising (Denim)

About our client

A garment sourcing and merchandising company is seeking a strong merchandising leader to take full ownership of the end-to-end merchandising process from product development through to final delivery. Partnering closely with clients to understand their market positioning product direction and pricing strategy youll translate these insights into effective sourcing solutions while leading and inspiring the team to deliver excellent service and drive business growth through trusted relationships with clients vendors and internal partners.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and develop supplier and vendor capabilities across product development quality cost and production capacity
• Work closely with factories and technical teams to ensure products consistently meet quality expectations
• Lead and support the merchandising team in building strong client relationships and proactively managing expectations
• Foster close collaboration with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth execution and on-time delivery
• Support and drive sourcing strategies that enhance competitiveness and support business growth
• Identify and onboard new vendors to strengthen sourcing capabilities and support expansion
• Monitor factory performance and partner with vendors to drive continuous improvement
• Contribute to business strategy and lead initiatives to improve processes efficiency and cost effectiveness

Requirements

• Degree in Textile Clothing or a related discipline
• Around 15 years solid merchandising experience in the garment industry with strong exposure to denim
• Experience managing USA market accounts preferably in ladies fashion
• Proven track record managing offshore vendors and multi-country sourcing
• A confident proactive leader able to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
• Strong people management skills with experience building and developing high-performing teams
• Commercially minded with a keen eye for balancing quality cost and delivery
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook); occasional business travel expected
• Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese (including Mandarin)
