Serving more than 30000 students per year we offer a suite of Ministry of Advanced Education approved programs (occupational programs in massage personal fitness trainer and funeral education; academic upgrading; and our Transitional Vocational Programming) over 60 programs and 350 courses to support professional and personal development in a wide range of topics and a broad range of music and speech arts programming through our Conservatory. Our courses cover a diversity of topics including but not limited to business technology and health. These courses are offered in a variety of formats on campus online in the workplace and in the community.
About the Role
The Specialized Program Coordinator (IEMBP) is responsible for the coordination administration and content delivery of the Internationally Educated Midwives Bridging Program (IEMBP). This position supports internationally educated midwives in navigating program requirements assessment processes and pathways toward professional practice readiness in Alberta.
The Specialized Program Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the program and key external and internal collaborators including the College of Midwives Faculty of Health and Community Education (HCE) subject matter experts (SMEs) instructors and clinical/community partners. The role provides leadership in program intake and advising processes assessment coordination instructional support and learner success initiatives while ensuring alignment with regulatory academic and professional standards.
Due to the specialized nature of the program and the need for professional expertise in midwifery practice the incumbent must be a registered midwife with current or eligibility for registration/licensure in Canada.
This position is apart-time conditionally funded termposition working 25 hours per week and is anticipated to end September 30 2028.
Responsibilities
- Develop maintain and strengthen collaborative relationships with the Alberta Midwifery Organizational Partners (e.g. College of Midwives of Alberta Alberta Association of Midwives Provincial Midwifery Administration Office) and Bachelor of Midwifery faculty.
- Act as the primary point of contact for content-related communication with internal and external collaborators.
- Collaborate with faculty and program leadership to support program planning implementation continuous improvement and regulatory alignment.
- Support the recruitment and onboarding of instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) by assisting with hiring processes.
- Coordinate communication and collaboration between instructional team members SMEs clinical partners and program leadership.
- Coordinate and administer student intake processes including application reviews assessment evaluations admissions documentation and registration setup.
- Support internationally educated midwives in understanding admission requirements bridging pathways and assessment expectations.
- Coordinate Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) assessments and related logistics including scheduling evaluator coordination simulation resources and learner communication.
- Monitor learner progression through intake assessment and bridging activities to ensure timely completion of requirements.
- Maintain accurate learner records assessment documentation and program tracking systems in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with applicants learners faculty and regulatory partners regarding assessment outcomes next steps and program progression.
- Provide academic and professional advising to internationally educated midwives regarding program requirements learner success strategies and available supports.
- Identify learner support needs and connect learners with appropriate academic wellness accessibility language and settlement resources.
- Support curriculum delivery and implementation in collaboration with faculty instructors and SMEs.
- Assist with the development and revision of program materials learner resources assessment tools and operational processes.
- Monitor program timelines deliverables and operational requirements to ensure effective program delivery.
- Prepare reports correspondence and documentation related to program activities learner participation and collaborator engagement.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies professional standards accreditation expectations and privacy/confidentiality requirements.
- Contribute to program evaluation quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collect and analyze feedback from learners faculty and collaborators to identify opportunities for enhancement.
- Support data collection and reporting related to learner outcomes program effectiveness and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum three or four year Bachelor degreein midwifery or a related health discipline is required.
- Masters or doctoral degree in education health care leadership midwifery or a related field is considered an asset.
- If the graduate degree is not in midwifery the applicant must also hold a recognized associate degree diploma or bachelors degree in midwifery.
- Current registration or eligibility for registration as a Midwife in Canada is required.
- Active practice experience in midwifery is required.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian midwifery practice professional standards and healthcare systems.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and strong organizational project coordination and administrative skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with standard office software learner management systems and virtual meetingplatforms.
Salary: $39.33 - $49.79 per hour (effective as of July 1 2026)
