About the Job
Mission Control is growing and seeking an experienced Intermediate / Senior Project Manager to lead complex software and space technology projects from initiation through delivery.
You will play a key leadership role working with engineering science and business teams to deliver high-impact projects aligned with customer objectives and company strategy. This role requires strong project execution capabilities stakeholder management and the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced innovative environment. As a senior member of the team you will contribute to improving project management practices mentoring junior staff and strengthening Mission Controls delivery excellence.

Tasks and Responsibilities
As an Intermediate/ Senior Project Manager you will:
- Lead projects through the full lifecyclefrom proposal support and planning to execution and close-out
- Serve as the primary interface with customers partners and internal stakeholders
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans (WBS schedules budgets resource plans risk registers and subcontractor plans)
- Ensure projects are delivered on time within scope and within budget
- Lead cross-functional teams of engineers scientists and technical specialists bridging the communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Identify assess and proactively mitigate risks; maintain and manage risk registers
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions when needed
- Communicate progress to all stakeholders through regular reporting milestone reviews and executive updates
- Build strong trusted relationships with clients and partners
- Mentor and support junior project managers or team members
- Ensure adherence to quality standards processes and organizational practices and contribute to the evolution of project management processes tools and procedures
- Support organizational growth by improving efficiency reporting and delivery frameworks
Skills and Experience
As an Intermediate/ Senior Project Manager
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Science or related technical field
- 510 years of project management experience in a technical or software-focused environment
- Proven experience delivering complex multidisciplinary projects
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Waterfall Agile or hybrid)
- Experience managing schedules budgets and risks in dynamic environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical thinking decision-making and problem-solving ability
- Experience with tools such as MS Project or similar
- Experience in software development projects required; hardware or space/robotics experience is an asset

- Strong leadership and accountability mindset with a track record of taking ownership of project outcomes and driving teams toward commitments even when faced with competing priorities or ambiguity.

- Demonstrated ability to introduce and scale new processes tools and best practices that enhance engineering effectiveness and system quality.
- Excellent communication and influence skills capable of clearly articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences including engineers executives customers and external partners.
- Strong collaboration and leadership presence with the ability to guide cross-functional teams build alignment and mentor others without relying on formal authority.
Bonus points for:
- PMP certification or equivalent demonstrating a strong foundation in structured project management principles and a commitment to professional development in the discipline.
- Agile or Scrum Master experience with practical knowledge of iterative delivery frameworks and the ability to adapt planning and execution approaches to suit project complexity and team dynamics.
Special Comments
Security: Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a security clearance in Canada at the reliability status level (and potentially at the higher levels) and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
Due to the security clearance required for Mission Controls facility only Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents are eligible at this time.
Salary: The salary range for this position is $90000- $140000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidates qualifications and experience
Location
This position is based in Ottawa Ontario. Successful candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to Ottawa.
Some travel may be required at certain times for this role always following the Health and Safety Guidance of the Government of Canada.
