    Position Description

    Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance Operations and Transportation (MOT) and/or Designee the Transportation Driver / M&O Support position operates a District passenger van to safely transport students staff and materials to and from school sites and District addition this position performs routine custodial work provides grounds support and completes minor maintenance and facility support tasks to assist District Maintenance and Operations functions. The position is held to District transportation safety conduct and professionalism standards applicable to student transportation. Please reference job description below.

    Compensation:

    Salary Range: $30.66/hour - $41.44/hour (New employees to the District to higher than Level 6 $39.14/hour)

    *Based on the 2026-27 Classified Salary Schedule

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience

    High school diploma or equivalent

    Valid California Class C Drivers License

    Experience comparable to custodial grounds or facilities support work preferred

    Prior experience operating vans or transporting passengers desirable

    Knowledge

    Safe operation and basic preventive maintenance of passenger vans

    California Motor Vehicle Code provisions applicable to non-CDL student transportation

    Basic custodial cleaning methods materials and equipment

    General grounds maintenance practices and safety procedures

    Minor facility maintenance and repair practices

    District safety procedures and work order reporting processes

    Skills/Abilities

    Knowledge of safe and defensive driving practices applicable to student transportation

    Knowledge of basic custodial methods materials tools and equipment

    General understanding of grounds and facility upkeep practices

    Ability to follow District transportation rules safety procedures and student conduct expectations

    Ability to recognize vehicle or facility safety issues and report concerns appropriately

    Safely operate a District passenger van and transport students and staff

    Maintain order safety and appropriate conduct among student passengers

    Perform routine custodial and grounds tasks with minimal supervision

    Complete minor maintenance and facility support work

    Work independently and as part of a team

    Communicate effectively and maintain cooperative working relationships

    Adapt to changing priorities and work assignments

    Follow oral and written instructions and maintain accurate records

    Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

    Operates a District passenger van over assigned routes to transport students (including special education students) staff and materials

    Assists students with boarding seating seat belts and unloading as needed

    Maintains order and appropriate conduct among passengers in accordance with District policy

    Conducts daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; reports mechanical or safety concerns

    Maintains accurate records including mileage passenger counts and required logs

    Cleans and performs routine inspections of assigned vehicle

    Performs routine custodial work including sweeping mopping vacuuming scrubbing waxing and polishing floors

    Cleans and disinfects restrooms classrooms offices cafeterias and common areas

    Collects and disposes of trash and recycling; cleans waste containers

    Moves and arranges furniture and equipment for instructional and school activities

    Secures buildings and gates and reports safety sanitation or fire hazards

    Provides grounds support including litter and debris removal sweeping walkways raking weeding and watering

    Assists grounds staff with routine non-specialized tasks as assigned

    Performs minor or emergency maintenance such as replacing light bulbs adjusting doors and hardware and minor patching or touch-up work

    Assists M&O staff by preparing work areas moving equipment and providing general support

    Reports maintenance needs beyond the scope of the position to MOT supervision

    Performs other duties consistent with job description
