Job Summary
Position Description:
CGI Federal is seeking a Training Specialist to develop prepare and deliver instructional materials and training programs in support of a Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) program for the US Army specifically for ground combat vehicles and mobile command posts. This role collaborates closely with technical subject matter experts (SMEs) training developers and program personnel to produce high quality training coursesboth instructor led and computer basedtailored to complex military systems. The Training Specialist ensures training products are accurate engaging and aligned with operational requirements enabling end users to acquire the skills needed to operate maintain and support modernized systems effectively. This position is ideal for an experienced trainer with a strong Defense training background and the ability to translate technical content into clear instructional material.
This position is located in Huntsville AL.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Training Material Development
. Work with SMEs engineers and training personnel to develop update and refine training materials
. Develop course content lesson plans instructor guides student guides and job aids
. Prepare and revise training courses to reflect new system capabilities updates or fielding requirements
Instruction & Delivery
. Conduct formal classroom instruction workshops seminars and hands on/on site training sessions
. Provide tailored instruction based on audience skill levels and mission needs
. Ensure instructional delivery follows established training standards and best practices
Computer Based Training (CBT) Development
. Develop update or support creation of computer based training modules and e learning content
. Work with multimedia developers to integrate graphics animations simulations or interactive components
. Ensure CBT content is technically accurate accessible and user friendly
Training Coordination & Support
. Coordinate training schedules logistics and resources as required
. Assist in preparing training environment materials equipment and technical aids
. Provide training status reports evaluation data and completion documentation
Quality Assurance & Content Accuracy
. Validate training content with SMEs to ensure accuracy and alignment with system design
. Review existing training materials and recommend updates for clarity consistency and relevance
. Incorporate user feedback and assessment results into course improvements
Documentation & Recordkeeping
. Maintain training records revision histories and content repositories
. Ensure training files remain accurate and audit ready
. Support the development of training manuals quick reference guides and supplemental documents
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Education
. BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university
. Substitution options:
Senior military trainer experience at grade E7 or above may substitute for the degree requirement
An additional 3 years of relevant experience may also substitute for the degree requirement
Experience
. 7 years of training development and delivery experience in a Defense environment
. Experience preparing training materials developing courses and conducting technical instruction
. Experience training audiences on military systems hardware software or operational workflows
Technical Skills
. Ability to interpret technical data system documentation and engineering content
. Experience with training development tools instructional design techniques and adult learning methods
. Familiarity with CBT/E learning development tools or platforms
Work Style & Competencies
. Strong communication and presentation skills
. Ability to collaborate with SMEs and technical teams
. Strong organizational skills and attention to content accuracy
. Ability to tailor instruction to diverse learner groups
Desired qualifications/non essential skills required:
Advanced Training & Development Expertise
. Experience in instructional systems design (ISD) or ADDIE methodology
. Experience supporting fielding training readiness training or system specific training pipelines
Tools & Technologies
. Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
. Proficiency with multimedia tools (e.g. Articulate Captivate Camtasia)
Certifications
. Instructional design training or adult education certifications
. DoD trainer or DAU learning certifications
Additional Skills
. Ability to develop quick reference materials and field use documentation
. Experience writing or editing technical manuals
. Experience conducting training needs assessments
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set level experience relevant training and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $70800.00 $139300.00.
