Job Description:

Robotics & Digital Solutions a part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies is recruiting for a Systems Integration Engineer - Compute Tower to focus on integrating complex compute and vision hardware systems located in Santa Clara CA.

At J&J Robotics were changing the trajectory of health for humanity using robotics to enhance healthcare providers abilities and improve patients diagnoses treatments and recovery times. J&J Robotics was established in 2020 with the integration of Auris Health Verb Surgical C-SATS and Ethicon. It comprises three key med-tech platforms: Surgical Robotics (OTTAVA) Flexible Robotics (MONARCH) and Digital Solutions. Join our collaborative rapidly growing team where youll create breakthrough medical technologies that unite multiple subject areas to build a connected digital ecosystem that advances medical professionals skills and improves patient outcomes.

In this role you will integrate hardware software and firmware to deliver the compute power networking and vision system thats an integral part of the OTTAVA surgical robotics platform. This is an exciting opportunity to build the future of surgical robotics!

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Bring-up debug and integrate electrical mechanical software and firmware components to build complex systems
  • Conduct root cause investigations into system failures provide critical input to design teams and engineer innovative features to prevent future issues
  • Characterize and calibrate system performance
  • Define and develop production tests in collaboration with the manufacturing team
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including hardware software robotics control surgical instruments clinical architecture manufacturing operations service etc.

Qualifications:

One of the following combinations of years of experience and education are required:

A.) BS in Computer Electrical or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent with 2 years relevant experience OR

B.) MS/PhD in Computer Electrical or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent with 1 years relevant experience

  • Fundamental understanding across computer hardware software operating systems networking board-level electronics circuits power electronics plus depth in one or more of these areas is required.
  • Hands on experience (academia or industry) integrating bringing-up and debugging complex systems that include computers servers instrumentation electronics networking equipment and/or sensors is required.
  • Strong proficiency in Python for programming scripting and modifying existing code is required.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication organization and collaboration through project experience is required.
  • Demonstrated skills in decomposing complex ambiguous engineering issues into solvable problems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of problems with a can-do attitude taking initiative to identify solutions is preferred.
  • Experience designing and bringing up new PCBs and integrating with mechanical components and sensors is preferred
  • Exposure to biomedical engineering or robotics is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work on-site in Santa Clara California is required.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $106000 - $170775.

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

  • Vacation 120 hours per calendar year
  • Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado 48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington 56 hours per calendar year
  • Holiday pay including Floating Holidays 13 days per calendar year
  • Work Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
  • Parental Leave 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
  • Bereavement Leave 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
  • Caregiver Leave 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
  • Volunteer Leave 32 hours per calendar year
  • Military Spouse Time-Off 80 hours per calendar year
