This is an excellent opportunity to work with a small caseload of elementary-aged students while leading a collaborative team and implementing individualized strategies that promote student growth and success.
Position Details:
Position: Special Education Teacher (Moderate/Severe Needs)
Location: Thornton CO
Schedule: Full-Time 40 Hours per Week
Student Population: Elementary (K 5)
Caseload: Approximately 10 Students
Program Type: Specialized Autism/Center-Based Classroom
Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction to students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and similar support needs
Develop implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Utilize AAC devices visual supports and evidence-based instructional strategies
Foster a structured positive and inclusive learning environment
Collaborate with families related service providers and school staff to support student success
Supervise train and support a team of 5 6 paraprofessionals
Maintain accurate documentation and progress monitoring
Qualifications:
Active Special Education teaching credentials
Minimum of 1 year of experience serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Experience writing and managing IEPs
Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
Ability to lead and collaborate with classroom support staff
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in specialized learning support or autism-focused classroom settings
Experience working with non-verbal students
Familiarity with AAC devices and visual communication systems
Previous experience managing and mentoring paraprofessionals
Additional Requirements:
CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required within the first 90 days of employment
