Senior Architect Platform & Data (Hybrid Cloud/Data)
Plano TX (Local only)
Onsite Only NO REMOTE OPTION
Job Description:
We are looking for a high-caliber Senior Architect to own the intersection of Platform Engineering and Data Strategy. You will be responsible for designing a unified secure and highly automated ecosystem where infrastructure and data are treated as a single cohesive product. This is a leadership role that requires deep technical expertise in cloud-native platforms (K8s Serverless) and modern data architectures (Data Lakehouse Fabric Mesh).
## Key Responsibilities
1. Platform Architecture & Cloud Strategy
Cloud-Native Foundation: Architect and govern scalable resilient cloud platforms using Kubernetes (GKE/AKS/EKS) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Crossplane).
Landing Zone Excellence: Define and implement enterprise-grade Cloud Landing Zones ensuring networking IAM and security guardrails are baked into the platform.
DevOps/Platform Engineering: Establish Internal Developer Platforms (IDP) that empower data engineers to deploy resources autonomously via GitOps (GitHub Actions/ArgoCD).
2. Data Architecture & Engineering
Data Lifecycle Design: Architect end-to-end data pipelines and storage strategies using Data Lakehouse patterns (e.g. Delta Lake Iceberg) or Microsoft Fabric/Synapse.
Governance & Privacy: Design data security architectures including encryption at rest/transit data masking and compliance frameworks (GDPR/SOC2).
Interoperability: Ensure the data platform integrates seamlessly with AI/ML workloads BI tools (Power BI/Looker) and third-party APIs.
3. Strategic Leadership
Technical Roadmap: Define the 3-year vision for both Platform and Data aligning technology investments with business growth.
Cost Governance (FinOps): Implement rigorous cost-monitoring for high- compute data workloads (Spark BigQuery Snowflake) to ensure architectural efficiency.
Mentorship: Act as the ultimate technical escalation point and mentor for Lead Engineers across the Infrastructure and Data departments.
## Technical Requirements
12 Years in IT: A proven track record of evolving systems from legacy on- prem to high-maturity cloud environments.
Multi-Domain Mastery: Deep expertise in at least one primary cloud (GCP or Azure) and professional-level competency in data modeling.
K8s & Orchestration: Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes Service Mesh and container security.
IaC Specialist: Expert-level Terraform and Python skills for high-level automation.
Modern Data Stack: Hands-on experience with Spark Airflow and distributed data warehouses (Snowflake BigQuery or Synapse).
## Professional Attributes
The Systems Thinker: You dont just see a database; you see the network the compute the security layer and the end-user impact.
Influencer: Ability to present complex architectural trade-offs to stakeholders and C-suite executives.
Pragmatic Visionary: You stay ahead of trends (like Generative AI infrastructure) but prioritize stability and security for production.
