Basic Job Functions:

The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the finance team responsible for overseeing critical financial processes and contributing to the month-end close procedures for their region. The role will include preparing journal entries conducting balance sheet reconciliations ensuring accurate monthly accruals monitoring inventory valuation and providing support to the group services finance team.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform inventory accounting including raw materials WIP and finished goods
  • Review and post inventory-related journal entries (production adjustments scrap reclasses reserves)
  • Perform monthly inventory close activities and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Review production orders to ensure materials issued consumed produced and returned are accurately recorded
  • Support operations teams in inventory cycle counts and documentation
  • Review and post regional fixed asset and intercompany transactions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or direct related work experience
  • 5 years of general ledger accounting experience in US GAAP
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Travel up to 25% for the first 3 months

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft D365 or similar ERP system
  • Manufacturing or inventory accounting experience
