Security Guard

Harvest Preparatory Academy is a K-12 public charter school located in Yuma AZ and San Luis AZ. We are currently seeking applications for qualified Security staff for our Yuma location.School securityguardpromotes attitudes of student responsibility and assists the professional staff withthe safety of students staff and faculty and the security of the facilities

Duties include but are not limited to general security duties such as monitoring all staff student and visitors on school ground to ensure safety and that all school rules are not being violated. Assisting in campus events conducting walk through of all school grounds. Will assist with the opening and/or closing of school grounds every duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (The following qualifications can be acquired and demonstrated through experience education and/or vocational training as noted or as appropriate.)

1. High school Diploma or GED required
2. 1-2 years previous experience in Security preferred
3. Basic knowledge of general security practices
4. Must be able to proficiently communicate in English.
5. Must be able to attain and maintain a valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
6. Must meet minimum physical requirements
7. Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Patrol and monitor hallways stairwells toilet facilities outside facilities and other public and unsupervised places of the school to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of the facility.
2. Ensure a smooth traffic flow of students through the hallways assisting students with on-time arrival to class and to assigned locations.
3. Assist with supervision in the breakfast and lunch periods and with morning arrival and afternoon dismissal of students.
4. Remove disruptive students from classes when needed.
5. Assist the professional staff police and emergency personnel in handling emergencies or disruptive situations.
6. Assist visitors with directions and secure proper identification.
7. Challenge unauthorized visitors and escort them to exits.
8. Report any discipline infractions unauthorized visitors and acts of vandalism to the Executive Administrative Assistant. Notify the building administration police and/or appropriate emergency personnel of any emergency potentially dangerous or unusual situations.
9. Notify immediately appropriate personnel of evidence of substance abuse child abuse child neglect severe medical or social conditions potential suicide or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol controlled substances or anabolic steroids.
10. Promote student responsibility for behavior and attitude by serving as a role model and dressing and grooming professionally.
11. Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students parents school personnel and outside agencies associated with the school.
12. Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment as assigned by supervisor.
13. May be required to bend kneel stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL CRITERIA:

Ability to carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions. Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with staff members.
