Our client is currently seeking a qualified Network Technician to join their team onsite in Chandler AZ and provide end-user support. This role is responsible for providing Asset Management and Material Inventory functions as member of the onsite Network team maintaining network environments and supporting second level and third level support teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain network environments (Office Lab Datacenter IT comm rooms Factory) in support of Layer 1 physical touch (Smart Hands)
  • Perform Asset Management Material Inventory Receiving and material transfers of network devices/components RMAs Monthly & Quarterly IT Room Audits and fulfilling customer Service Requests
  • Assist and provide Service Request Support working with onsite team members and or remote Network Support Teams to install hardware or patch cables to enable new services for customers
  • Assist and provide Incident/Task support by working with onsite team members and or remote Level 2/3 teams to assist in resolving outages fixing issues including replacement of cabling or hardware components
  • Assist and participate in Hardware Rack & Stack installation of Network equipment cable management and installation of required Fiber and Copper Patch cables providing console access to Remote Team for configuration if required and testing connectivity after installation and configuration
  • Receive Hardware shipments for data center equipment landings
  • Locate and Validation of Purchase Orders documenting accuracy of all hardware and components received
  • Updating and maintaining accurate Asset records in ServiceNow asset database
  • Unboxing and Recycling of materials
  • Move Equipment from dock to storage rooms staging areas and or to DC racks
  • Installation or retrofitting of network/server racks - rail and shelving installation
  • Power and network cable installation and cable management
  • Scanning and Labeling of installed devices (network or server)
  • Designate parts identified for spare part stock inventory
  • Proper e-waste handling and disposal
  • Equipment shipping and receiving as needed
  • Provide Escort Service for vendors/techs
  • Work Request Tasks from ServiceNow ticket system

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Higher education or degree preferred (but not required) or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider 1 to 3 years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education
  • 2 years of experience in racking stacking connecting and providing basic support of networking hardware and cabling
  • Ability to withstand working in a hot enclosed environment for short time spans required (i.e. data center hot isles)
  • Must be able to perform work while on a ladder (use of ladders is required for top of rack installations)
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in teams of 3-4 and be flexible
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs. solo
  • Must be willing to travel between buildings using personal car/foot
  • May be required to walk/sit/stand/crawl/kneel for extended periods
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and written/verbal communication skills
  • Requires knowledge of Microsoft suite (Outlook Excel and Word primarily) Windows 10
  • Ability to work in datacenters networking rooms. Should be able to communicate by telephone email or face to face

  • Knowledge or experience in:
  • Structured Network Cabling
  • Copper: Cat5 Cat5e Cat6 Connector Types - RJ45
  • Fiber: Multimode Single Mode Connector Types ST SC LC
  • WIFI H/W
  • Wireless LAN Controllers
  • Wireless Access Points
  • Networking
  • IP Addressing Layer 2 VLAN etc.
  • Experienced in Ethernet Switching H/W
  • Chassis Supervisor Line Cards Power Supplies etc.
  • Transceiver (SFP/QSFP) Types SX LX SR LR etc.
Wage Range:
The rate for this position is between $15.67 - $20.90 per hour unless local minimum wage is higher. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market skills education experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
