Middle school Teacher

Title: Teacher Reports to: Program Principal

Location:SEEM Middle School

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree and DESE certification in special education required.

Masters degree preferred along with a demonstrated ability to work with children with intensive special needs in creative sensitive and thoughtful ways.

Scope of duties:

• Ability to develop and implement effective individualized instructional plans developed in accordance with the goals and objectives on the students IEP.
• Has a thorough knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and uses these frameworks effectively in the development of curriculum instruction.
• Has a thorough working knowledge of assessment strategies and uses this knowledge in an ongoing manner to effectively plan from day to day.
• Understands the need for thorough and instructive documentation and has an ability to share this information with other team members and parents to maximize every possible learning opportunity for the child.
• Has an understanding and a desire to use a participative classroom management model that effectively involves all the stakeholders in the process of planning and implementation.
• Understands the concept of collaboration and uses the science of this concept effectively in managing the classroom and instruction.
• Has a thorough knowledge of the part clinical support services play in all the overall education of these students and is able to effectively integrate support services into the planning and delivery of instruction on a daily basis.
• Strives in every way to create and maintain a safe nurturing environment for every student
• May be asked to provide supervision and support for paraprofessionals
• Endeavors at all times to contribute to and improve SEEMs professional learning community.
• Experience with EBDB population
• Previous experience ability and/or certification in science
• Must be able to lift pull or push approximately 40 lbs and have the ability to move quickly from standing to floor and floor to standing.
• Employment is contingent upon a positive SAFIS fingerprint and Cori screening.
• Must be willing to work with verbally and/or physically aggressive students.
