Job Summary
The Part-Time Librarian is responsible for the daily operation and organization of the Cultural Center Library. This role supports members and guests by maintaining an inviting organized and functional library environment while assisting with book circulation library cards and general library upkeep.
SPECIFIC DUTIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO)
- Opens and closes the library according to scheduled hours.
- Checks books and materials in and out for members and guests.
- Creates and maintains members library cards and records.
- Organizes stocks and shelves books and library materials.
- Assists with library reorganization projects and inventory management.
- Maintains cleanliness and presentation of the library space.
- Helps monitor overdue materials and follow up as needed.
- Provides friendly and professional assistance to members and guests.
- Assists with seasonal displays featured book selections and library promotions.
- Coordinates with Cultural Center staff regarding library operations and member needs.
- Reports maintenance supply or operational concerns as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong organizational and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks efficiently.
- Comfortable using computers and basic library or database systems.
- Professional friendly and member-focused demeanor.
- Must occasionally lift and move books and materials of up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to sit in one place for prolonged periods of time and/or stand in one place for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to accommodate to a flexible schedule based on library operating hours and seasonal needs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. An Associates Degree from an accredited College or University is preferred.
Experience
Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Librarian or in an administrative or customer service role required.
Licenses Certificates or Other:
Valid Florida Driver License.
Any combination of the above education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties for the position will be considered.
