Information Literacy Librarian

Job Summary:

Responsible for the planning coordination and supervision of the following major library activities: information literacy instruction and tools and research services. Participates in library assessment planning and data collection. With other professional staff sets library-wide policies determines library directions and develops appropriate performance measures.

• Lead present and coordinate library information literacy instruction. Work with faculty to provide information literacy sessions.
• Participate in library assessment activities including planning measurement and analysis of data. Evaluates the effectiveness of library resources and services assessment and provides recommendations.
• Participate in digital and print collection development activities and act as library liaison with the faculty in assigned academic areas.
• Lead reference staffing and tracking. Provide reference assistance to students faculty staff and community patrons.
• Develop update and publish information literacy guides and other resources in all formats for the Franco Library.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Train and manage a graduate assistant to populate and monitor all aspects of the librarys social media presence.
• Hire train and supervise the librarys Graduate Assistants.
• Maintain librarys webpage.
• Assist with technical services operations.
• Educate and assist faculty with Open Educational Resources (OER).
• Engage with the university community through committee work displays service activities etc.
• Create and maintain librarys information literacy video collection.
• Will be expected to work evening hours.

Qualification/Education:

• Commitment to the mission statement core values and goals of Alvernia University.
• A masters degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Academic library experience in reference services information literacy instruction and library assessment and data collection.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff; utilizes excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to adapt and lead in a changing library environment.
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
• Ability to effectively supervise student workers.

• Attendance is required to perform the duties of this job.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
