Job Summary:
Responsible for developing implementing and enforcing health safety and environmental (HS&E) programs on complex industrial and infrastructure projects including demolition retrofit and integration into legacy systems. Ensures compliance with OSHA (29 CFR 1926) EPA ISO 45001 and applicable federal state local and client requirements while managing risk in high-hazard environments involving residual chemicals aging infrastructure and coordination with operations. Drives a proactive safety culture and safe execution of work; at the senior level expands to strategic leadership team oversight and integration of HS&E into projects and organizational planning.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as the on-site safety authority with direct responsibility for daily field execution and safe work oversight.
- Conduct daily site walks field audits and hands-on safety observations to identify hazards and enforce compliance.
- Enforce safety requirements across all trades and disciplines and exercise stop work authority when unsafe conditions or behaviors are observed.
- Maintain permit programs for high-risk activities including confined space hot work lockout/tagout (LOTO) excavation and working at heights.
- Manage Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program and hazardous material compliance.
- Deliver and coordinate site-specific safety training and orientations; verify worker qualifications certifications and task readiness.
- Ensure adherence to environmental permits and requirements including stormwater air quality and waste management regulations.
- Oversee spill prevention control and countermeasure (SPCC) plans and response activities.
- Coordinate waste disposal and recycling efforts in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and regulate the site safety plans.
- This position is 100% on-site. Travel by Plane Motor Vehicle Train (approx. 100% of time if not local to the project site) to client/project sites across the U.S. required.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for HS&E matters providing direction communication and coordination across field and project teams.
- Conduct and/or oversee site audits inspections and safety observations; evaluate conditions and behaviors to ensure safe work practices.
- Facilitate and support safe work planning processes including toolbox talks pre-task planning (PTPs) and review of job hazard analyses (JHAs/JSA).
- Ensure compliance with OSHA (29 CFR 1926) EPA ISO 45001 and applicable state and local regulations as well as client and company requirements.
- Identify hazards and perform risk assessments and hazard analyses to determine controls and safe work methods.
- Develop implement and maintain safety and environmental plans including site-specific safety plans (SSSP) JHAs/JSA and environmental plans.
- Lead incident accident and near-miss investigations; conduct root cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventive actions are identified implemented and tracked to completion.
- Track analyze and report safety performance using leading and lagging indicators including TRIR DART near misses observations and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Implement corrective and preventive measures to mitigate risk address hazards and prevent recurrence.
- Oversee subcontractor and contractor safety performance ensuring compliance with HS&E requirements and alignment with project expectations.
- Communicate safety expectations clearly across craft contractor and management teams to ensure consistent understanding and execution.
- Support and participate in client internal and regulatory audits and inspections including preparation and response activities.
- Delivers outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to clients and stakeholder needs.
- Protects operations by keeping company information confidential. Use of professional discretion and judgment is mandatory.
- Demonstrates BVs guiding principles in support of the companys strategic goals.
- Follows all documented policies Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions applicable to the position and support of BVs quality standards and strategic initiatives.
- Maintains safe and clean work area by complying with all procedures rules and regulations.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.
Supervisory Duties:
Indirectly or directly supervises employees within the team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees planning assigning and directing work appraising performance addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education Certifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university in Safety Environmental Science Engineering or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of four years of HS&E experience in construction industrial manufacturing energy or related high-hazard environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and related HS&E requirements.
- Experience supporting high-risk work activities such as confined space lockout/tagout crane/lift activities excavation work at heights hazardous materials or similar activities relevant to assigned work.
- Preferred certifications may include CSP ASP CHST OSHA 30 OSHA 500/510 and First Aid/CPR/AED depending on assignment requirements.
Physical & Environmental Conditions:
While performing the onsite/field duties the employee is required to:
- Walk (material part of an 8-hour workday up to 3 to 4 continuous hours at one time.)
- Stand (material part of an 8-hour workday up to 3 to 4 continuous hours at one time.)
- Sit Stoop kneel crouch or crawl to observe basement and grade-level crawl spaces and/or to read equipment data plates when necessary and/or measurements (at least once for each building assessed)
- Climb and balance Stairs (at least once for each building assessed)
- Climb and balance various types of ladders to access flat roofs/hatch access (at least once for each building assessed)
- Repetitive use of hands/fingers for keyboard interaction (frequently)
- Reach with hands and arms
- Talk and hear (communicate with onsite contact)
- Vision (close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus)
- Lift and or move (occasionally up to 40 pounds)
- Operate an electronic tablet in the field for live data collection.
- Operate a computer (up to 100% of workweek)
- Operating a motor vehicle
- Ability to successfully work from remote location.
- Ability to travel by plane motor vehicle train to client/project sites across the U.S.
- Work Environment: The employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions moving mechanical components and assemblies frequently exposed to work near energized electrical components and assemblies. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high precarious places fumes or airborne particles extreme cold extreme heat inclement weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level at the project site is usually moderate.
