Job Summary
Position: Forklift Operator
Work Location: Statesville NC 28625
Pay Rate: $15.50/hr
Duration: 3 Months role with high chances of extension/conversion
Shift: 6:00 pm - 6:00 am
PPE: Safety glasses Hearing protection Closed-toe shoes
Job Description:
- Operate and coordinate movement of logs between storage and peeler operations using a forklift.
- Handle logs carefully to avoid damage during lifting transport and storage.
- Maintain proper staging and spacing of logs in storage areas.
- Inform Mold Operator about any forklift breakdowns or operational issues.
- Maintain assigned work area in a clean and orderly manner.
Log Handling Procedures:
- Open clamps fully when picking up logs.
- Lift logs 4 - 6 inches off the ground with mast tilted back for stability.
- Move away from metal stop before rotating logs.
- Transport logs safely to staging area after turning.
- Do not allow stored logs to touch each other.
- Always drive in reverse on ramps while carrying logs.
- Do not use clamps to break apart logs or push materials.
- Avoid dragging clamps on the floor.
Qualifications:
- Must be forklift certified.
